Queens Softball Wanser and Donahue Earn Top ECC Honors Monday

COLONIA, N.J. – In the East Coast Conference's seventh weekly report of the season, Queens College softball Olivia Wanser (Westbury, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week, while rookie right-hander Nellie Donahue (Levittown, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Wanser extended her streak to four straight weeks with conference recognition, securing her second Player of the Week award this season. Donahue picked up her third weekly honor of the year and her first Rookie of the Week selection.

Player of the Week

Across six games, Wanser paced the Knights with a .636 batting average, .810 on-base percentage, and a 1.455 slugging percentage. She totaled seven hits, three home runs, four runs scored, six RBI, and drew 10 walks. Wanser recorded three multi-hit games, including her second multi-home run performance of the season. In the ECC doubleheader split against STAC, Wanser was dominant, batting .833 with a .857 OBP and a 2.333 SLG. She tallied five hits, three home runs, six RBI, and four runs scored. Against Mercy, she drew six walks, as the Mavericks consistently pitched around her in key situations during two tightly contested games.

Rookie of the Week

Donahue made five appearances, including three starts, totaling 17.1 innings. She allowed 21 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 17, finishing the week 1-0. In the ECC win over STAC, Donahue delivered a complete-game gem, needing just 71 pitches to limit the defending champions to three hits and one earned run while striking out five in a 7-1 victory.

Next Pitch

Queens concludes its homestand on Tuesday, April 7, hosting the Molloy University Lions for an East Coast Conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
