Softball Caps Road Weekend in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Continuing their road stretch, the Queens College softball team faced defending East Coast Conference champion D'Youville University in a Sunday doubleheader at Dobson Field.

Queens jumped out to early leads in both contests, but the Saints answered each time, using late offensive surges to secure the sweep by scores of 12-4 and 11-3.

Game One Recap – Queens 4, D'Youville 12

The Knights threatened early, loading the bases in the opening inning behind back-to-back singles from juniors Caylea Campbell (Murrieta, CA.), and Kadie Cain (Hauppauge, N.Y.), along with a walk by Olivia Wanser (Westbury, N.Y.). Queens capitalized on a throwing error to plate two runs and take an early advantage.

In the third, Cain continued her strong day at the plate with a double to left center before Wanser drew her second walk. After the Saints recorded the first out, sophomore Mia Pineiro (North Babylon, N.Y.) delivered an RBI single to right field, extending the lead to 3-0.

Queens added another run in the fourth inning as Wanser singled to right, and a throwing error allowed senior Allie Parascandola (East Quogue, N.Y.) to score, making it 4-0.

D'Youville responded in a big way, erupting for 12 runs over the next three innings to pull away and defeat the Knights 12-4 in six innings.
