FLUSHING, N.Y. – Coming off a four-set victory over Roberts Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon to earn their first East Coast Conference (ECC) win of the season, the Queens College women's volleyball team enters Week 7 with an overall record of 3-13 and a 1-1 mark in conference play.
As a team, the Knights have recorded 504 kills at 8.8 kills per set, 470 assists at 8.2 assists per set, 120 service aces at 2.1 aces per set, 709 digs at 12.4 digs per set, and 70 total blocks at 1.2 blocks per set.
Rookie
Zoe Sercu leads the Knights' offense with 150 kills and 2.68 kills per set while recording three double-doubles on the season. Sercu earned her second weekly honor of the season and first ECC Honor Roll selection on Sept. 21. Against Roberts Wesleyan, the rookie recorded eight kills, seven digs, two service aces, and one block.
Fellow rookies
Lucia Bennett and
Mikayla Haskell have combined for 208 kills, while Haskell leads the Knights with 31 total blocks on the season. Haskell recorded 10 kills and tied her career high with three service aces in the victory over Roberts Wesleyan. Bennett posted a career-high 13 kills in the Knights' five-set victory over Post University on Aug. 28.
Rookie setter
Kaiya Banks leads Queens with 218 assists while adding 20 service aces, 122 kills, and 107 digs. On Sept. 21, Banks was named to the ECC Honor Roll for the first time this season. In the victory over Roberts Wesleyan, Banks recorded a career-best 29 assists to go along with eight digs.
Queens concludes non-conference play Thursday, Oct. 8, when the Knights travel to face the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights before returning to ECC action over the weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 10, Queens welcomes St. Thomas Aquinas College to Fitzgerald Gymnasium before traveling to Rockville Centre on Sunday, Oct. 11, to take on Molloy University.
University of Bridgeport Preview
The Purple Knights enter Thursday's matchup with an overall record of 5-11 after falling to Dominican University in four sets Wednesday night.
Thursday's contest will mark the 40th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Queens trailing the series, 14-25. The Knights have won each of the last two meetings, earning a five-set victory at Southern Connecticut State University on Sept. 6, 2024, before securing a four-set victory at home on Oct. 9, 2025. Queens will look to earn its first road victory over Bridgeport since Oct. 9, 2007, when the Knights posted a four-set victory.
St. Thomas Aquinas College Preview
The Spartans enter the week with an overall record of 6-8 and a 1-1 mark in ECC play after earning a five-set victory over D'Youville University on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday's matchup will mark the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs, with Queens holding an 8-0 advantage in the series. The Knights swept the season series against the Spartans last year, earning a five-set road win before posting a straight-set victory at home.
Molloy University Preview
Molloy enters the week with an overall record of 6-9 and a 1-1 mark in ECC play after sweeping Roberts Wesleyan. The Lions will host Mercy University on Saturday before welcoming the Knights on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday's matchup will mark the 66th all-time meeting between the two programs, with the series dating back to 1990. Queens leads the all-time series, 35-30. Last season, the Knights dropped both meetings against the Lions.
NEXT WEEK OUTLOOK
Queens opens the following week at home on Thursday, Oct. 15, hosting Mercy University before traveling to Rochester, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 17, to face Roberts Wesleyan University.
