MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – On Thursday evening, the Queens College baseball team got their 2025 season going as they matched up against defending East Regionally champions and nationally ranked #10 Southern New Hampshire University Penmen at Griffith Stadium at The Ripken Experience.
Looking to play in warmer climates, both sides were met with cold temperatures just like the ones they left behind to open their season.
However, it would be the #10 team in the nation that would begin their season on a winning note as the Knights were limited to three hits to drop their season opener to the final score of 16-0.
Sophomore right fielder
Michael Vilardi (Massapequa, N.Y.) and senior center fielder
Nick O'Conner (Wantagh, N.Y.) combined for three extra-base hits.
Sophomore righty
Peter Nenadich III (Bayside, N.Y.) earned his first start of the year but would be tagged with the loss allowing four hits, four earned runs, two walks, and three strikeouts in 2.1 inning pitched.
NEXT PITCH
On Friday, Feb. 21 the Knights match up against Adelphi University Panthers at Crosley Field. First Pitch is set for noon.
