STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Following a Saturday doubleheader split in Flushing, the Queens College baseball team made the trip to Staten Island to conclude the four-game East Coast Conference series against the Dolphins of College of Staten Island at the CSI Baseball Complex.

(2.0 IP, BB, 3K) would hold the Dolphins bats off as Sanabria delivered with a quality start to earn his first win of the year as Queens earned an 11-7 game two victory.

In the nightcap, the offense would erupt for a season-high 18 runs on 18 hits with eight Knights combining for a season-high 17 RBI led by Patane (3-5 AB, 2B, 4RBI, 3R), junior catcher Thomas Napolitano Jr. (Scottsdale, AZ.) (2-4 AB, 2B, 4RBI, 2R), Jimenez (3-6 AB, 3B, 2RBI, 2R, SB), freshman left fielder Michael Vilardi (Massapequa, N.Y.) On the mound freshman righty Peter Nenadich III (Bayside, N.Y.) (W, 3-3 5.2 IP, 6H, 4ER, 3BB, 7K) would keep the Dolphins bats to four runs to earn his third win of the year before the offense erupted for 12 runs over the final three innings of play to allow the bullpen to close out the game as Queens clinched the game four victory to the final score of 18-6 and complete the Sunday DH sweep.

With the DH sweep, the Knights improved to 20-14 overall and 10-6 in ECC play as Queens clinched their third ECC series of the year.

GAME THREE RECAP (QUEENS 11, COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND 7)

The first four innings of the game saw both teams combine for 14 runs as for every run the Knights scored, the Dolphins would crawl back to cut into the advantage before tying the game 6-6 after three complete innings of play.

With the game tied at 6-6 heading into the fourth inning of play, Jimenez belted a double down the right field line before Cisco tallied a RBI double to left field as Queens took a 7-6 lead. But the Dolphins would retire the next two batters but on the second out as Segarra grounded out to the first baseman, he would advance Cisco to third base. As the Dolphins looked to keep the scoreline at 7-6, rookie Gitto would put Queens up with his first career RBI as he delivered with a single down the left field line as Queens took an 8-6 lead.

Leading by two, Sanabria would work out of a one-out single as he faced the bare minimum in the home half of the fourth inning by inducing the third batter of the inning to ground out into a double play as the Knights turned a 5-4-3 double play to keep the 8-6 lead intact.

However, the Dolphins would get a run back in the home half of the fifth inning with back-to-back singles before Sanabria got the first out inducing a grounder straight back to him. But the third single of the inning would put runners on the corner before the senior righty turned the second straight inning double play to keep the Knights ahead, 8-7 with a 1-5-3 play to end the fifth inning of the game.

As both sides were kept off the scoreboard in the sixth inning of play, the Knights rallied in the top of the seventh with two outs. As Jimenez extended the inning with a single to the shortstop, Cisco would reach first base on a fielding error before a RBI single to right center from Patane put the Knights up 9-7.

Sanabria would return in the bottom of the seventh and with his pitch count already past the century mark, the Woodside native kept the Dolphins off the scoreboard for the second straight inning to keep his side ahead.

As the Knights were retired in order just for the first time on the day, Christopher relived Sanabria to begin the bottom of the eighth and he would retire the Dolphins in order to complete eight innings of play.

Queens would add two more insurance in the top of the ninth behind Patane's first career four-RBI performance of the day. As the Dolphins retired the first two Knights to begin the top of the ninth, a hit by pitch to Jimenez and a walk to Cisco would bring the hot bat of Patane to the plate. Starring at a 1-0 count, the sophomore laced a RBI single up the middle as Jimenez scored before Cisco took advantage of a throwing error to score the second run as Queens took an 11-7 lead.

Leading by four runs 11-7, Christopher would retire the first batter to ground out to Segarra before a walk extended the inning. But the junior would stay on task as he retired the final two batters of the inning to close out the game as Queens earned their ninth ECC victory of the year.

GAME FOUR RECAP (QUEENS 18, COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND 6)

In the nightcap, the Knights would open the scoring again as Krpata reached first base on a fielding error before junior third baseman Robert Jacobsen (Temecula, CA) earned a walk. As both runners stole a base, the Dolphins would get the first out before a walk to Cisco loaded the bases. With the bases loaded, Patane kept his barrel hot as he laced a two-RBI single up the middle as Queens took a 2-0 lead.

Leading 2-0, Nenadich would retire the first batter before a walk and two straight singles saw the home side cut Queens' lead down to 2-1. But the rookie would shrug off the slow start as he retired the next two batters to keep the 2-1 lead intact.

Just as the Knights were kept off the scoreboard, Nenadich would continue to keep his side ahead including delivering a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the third.

Looking to add more insurance runs, Patane collected his second straight single to begin the top of the fourth before the Dolphins got the first out. But back-to-back walks would load the bases to bring Napolitano Jr. to the plate. The junior wasted no time looking at any pitches as he cleared the bases with a three-RBI double to left field as Queens took a 5-1 lead. But as Krpata earned a four-pitch to keep the inning going, CSI would get the second out before Jimenez put the Knights up 6-1 with a RBI single to left field.

Nenadich began the bottom of the fourth inning striking out the first two batters before a single extended the inning but the rookie would keep the scoreline at 6-1 as he got the fourth batter of the inning to fly out to center field to end the fourth.

The Dolphins would cut the Knights lead down to 6-3 with a two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth before adding another run in the bottom of the sixth to end the rookie outing. With the lead down to two runs, 6-4, Queens turned to Christopher to end the inning. But with two outs, the junior making his second appearance of the day would walk two batters in a row as the Dolphins loaded the bases.

However, for the second time in the inning, Queens would turn to the bullpen for the third out as they called on senior righty Danny Gargano (Middle Island, N.Y.) to get the final out. Gargano would leave the bases loaded as he induced a pop up to Cisco at second base for the final out to keep the 6-4 lead intact.

Needing to add more runs to give the bullpen further breathing room, the Knights offense would erupt for seven runs on four hits in the top of the seventh. As Patane reached on a fielding error to begin the inning, Segarra would advance the sophomore to second base on a successful sac bunt. Vilardi would put the Knights up 7-4 with a RBI double to right center as Patane scored from second base. As junior right fielder Leo Alvarez (Oceanside, N.Y.) earned a six-pitch walk, Napolitano would put the Knights up 8-4 with a RBI single down the right field line before Krpata delivered with a RBI sac fly out to center field for a 9-4 lead.

As Jacobsen battled for a six-pitch walk, Jimenez would put the Knights up 10-4 with a RBI single through the right side. As Cisco got hit by pitch to load the bases, Patane would drive home the fifth run of the inning as he got hit by a pitch as Queens took an 11-4 lead. Batting for the second time in the inning Segarra would put the Knights up 12-4 on a RBI single to score Jimenez before Cisco took advantage of a throwing error to score the seventh run of the inning as Queens took a commanding lead of 13-4.

The Dolphins would score two runs to bring the Knights' advantage down to 13-6 in the bottom of the seventh before a five-run top of the ninth inning saw Queens effectively put the game away to the final score of 18-6 as the Knights completed the Sunday DH sweep and earned their 10th ECC victory of the year and 20th overall.
