WEST HAVEN, CT. – Looking to conclude non-conference play on a high note Thursday evening, the Queens College women's volleyball team traveled to West Haven, CT for a battle against the Chargers of the University of New Haven inside Chargers Gymnasium.
Four Knights recorded five or more kills led by senior
Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) recording a team-high eight kills, while the trio of junior
Lindsay Osterhoudt (Orlando, FLA), junior
Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) and senior
Alicia Cervera (Valencia, Spain) combined for 18 kills, but the Knights would fall in a tough three-set match to the Chargers.
With the loss, the Knights moved to 16-8 overall on the year and concluded non-conference play with an overall record of 10-7.

Queens opened the first set with a 4-1 lead as Osterhoudt recorded two kills and two blocks before the Chargers answered with a 7-2 run to take an 8-6 lead.
But the Knights would respond with an 8-2 run with the trio of Cervera, Franco, and Osterhoudt combining for four kills as Queens took a 14-10 lead.
As New Haven attempted to cut into Queens' lead, timely offense would help Queens take a 20-15 lead forcing the Chargers to use their last timeout of the first set.
However, New Haven would use the momentum breaker to their advantage as they ended the first set on a 10-3 run to take a match lead of 1-0 with a 25-23 first set victory.
Queens fell behind 8-4 to open the second set but the trio of Osterhoudt, Cervera, and rookie
Madi Hathaway (Edmond, OK) would help the Knights rally as they combined for five kills to cut their deficit down to two, 15-13. But attacking errors would hurt the Knights as New Haven ended the second set on a 10-4 run to take a 2-0 match lead with a 25-17 second set victory.
Looking to bounce back, Franco would record four kills as Queens opened the third set on a 7-2 run. The Chargers responded with a 5-0 run to tie the set at 7-7 before Franco and Conrad combined for three kills to take a 10-7 advantage.
But once again the Chargers answered back using a 7-1 run to take a 14-11 lead before the Knights attempted to rally using a 4-2 run to get back within one, 16-15. As New Haven used four straight points to extend their lead to 20-15, the Knights would fight back to get within two, 21-19.
However, the late rally would fall short as the home side earned a three-set victory over Queens using a 4-2 run for a third set victory of 25-21 inside Chargers Gymnasium.

- Franco paced the Knights offense recording a team-high eight kills, 14 digs, and one block.
- Osterhoudt recorded six kills on a hitting % of .545 to go with five blocks.
- Conrad and Cervera combined for 12 kills.
- Hathaway recorded three kills, nine assists, five digs, and two blocks.
- Senior Despina Boudouris (Athens, Greece) recorded a team-high 18 assists, seven digs, and two kills.

The Knights conclude the five-match road stand with a weekend trip to Western New York beginning on Saturday, Nov. 2 against the Wildcats of Daemen University in East Coast Conference play. The first serve is set for noon.
