NEWARK, DEL. – Concluding the 2026 Wildcats Regional Invitational Saturday, the Queens College women's volleyball team matched up against Saint Anselm College and host Wilmington University inside the WU Athletics Complex.

Olivia Hyman was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance throughout the two-day invitational.

In the first set, Queens fell behind 16-5 before mounting a comeback attempt. With the Hawks leading 22-11, the Knights got as close as five points at 22-17 after putting together a 6-0 run. Rookie
Zoe Sercu recorded two kills during the run, while rookie
Lucia Bennett added a kill and a block assist. However, the Hawks held on to earn a 25-18 first-set victory.
Errors would hurt Queens in the second set as the Knights fell behind early and were unable to recover, finding themselves trailing 2-0 in the match.
The third set proved to be the closest of the match as Queens fought to keep the contest alive. Trailing 12-7, a kill from rookie
Garnette Webb helped spark a 7-3 run that brought the Knights within one, 15-14.
The Hawks answered with a 7-2 run to take a 22-16 lead. The duo of Bennett and rookie
Mikayla Haskell then combined for four kills and a block, while junior
Asuka Shibue added two service aces, as Queens battled back to tie the set at 24-24. However, the Hawks held off the Knights by scoring the final two points to complete the three-set sweep.

Errors hurt the Knights in the opening set as they fell behind 1-0 in the match following a 25-10 first-set loss.
Queens opened the second set with a 4-1 lead, led by a trio of kills. The Wildcats responded by taking a 15-9 lead before the duo of Haskell and Sercu led the charge as Queens pulled within two, 17-15.
After Wilmington extended its lead to 18-15, Sercu and Bennett combined for a 3-1 run as Queens cut its deficit to one, 19-18. However, the Wildcats responded with six straight points to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-18 second-set victory.
For the second straight set, Queens jumped ahead, taking a 12-6 advantage. The Wildcats used a 9-3 run to tie the set at 15-15. After Sercu recorded her 10th kill of the match, the home side answered with a 9-2 run to take a 24-18 advantage. Queens went down fighting with a 4-0 run, but it was not enough as the Wildcats earned a 25-22 third-set victory to complete the sweep.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Sercu combined for 18 kills and 10 digs on day two of the tournament.
- Bennett combined for 12 kills, six digs, two blocks and one service ace.
- Hyman recorded 29 digs, 17 assists, four service aces and three kills on day two, including her first double-double of the year with 13 assists and 13 digs against Wilmington.

Queens returns home for its lone match of the week Thursday, Sept. 17, as the Knights welcome Georgian Court University to town for non-conference action.
