PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Continuing their roadstand, the Queens College women's volleyball team traveled to Sorgenti Arena for a non-conference matchup against Chestnut Hill College Griffins Tuesday evening.
Rookies
Zoe Sercu and
Kaiya Banks led the Knights, each recording a double-double. Sercu posted her second career double-double with 14 kills and a career-best 18 digs, while Banks registered her first career double-double with 10 assists and a career-best 16 digs.
Queens fell behind 5-1 early in the opening set before rallying to tie the score at 11-11. Sercu recorded four kills during a 10-6 run, but the Griffins responded by regaining a four-point advantage.
The Knights continued to battle, pulling within two late in the set, but Chestnut Hill held off the rally to take the opening set, 25-22.
Queens again faced an early deficit in the second set, trailing by as many as 10 points, 17-7. Following a Knights timeout, Queens mounted a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to three, 17-14, forcing a Griffins timeout. Despite the late push, Chestnut Hill held on for a 25-21 victory to take a 2-0 match lead.
Looking to extend the match, Queens fell behind 5-1 in the third set before rallying behind Griffins errors, service aces from Banks and junior
Asuka Shibue, and a strong defensive effort at the net. The Knights recorded three consecutive blocks during the run, eventually tying the set at 11-11.
After Chestnut Hill regained a 13-11 lead, rookies
Lucia Bennett and Sercu sparked a 4-0 run that put Queens ahead, 15-13.
The Griffins answered with five straight points to regain an 18-15 advantage and force a Queens timeout. Sercu responded with two kills out of the break as the teams traded points.

Garnette Webb brought the Knights within two at 20-18, but Chestnut Hill pulled away down the stretch to complete the three-set sweep.

Queens concludes its roadstand in Wilmington, Del., competing in the 2026 Wildcat Invitational hosted by Wilmington University. The Knights will face Adelphi University and Holy Family University on Friday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
