FLUSHING, N.Y. – East Coast Conference play continues as the Queens College softball team travels to Staten Island for their lone doubleheader of the week on Tuesday (Apr. 18) afternoon against the College of Staten Island Dolphins.
Scouting the Knights (Overall Record: 7-27, 4-10 ECC)
The Knights went 1-5 in their six games played last week as they earned a doubleheader split against Mercy College at home before falling in two road doubleheaders.
On Monday (Apr. 10) afternoon, graduate student
Allyson Dilday (Castle Rock, Co.) was awarded an ECC Honor Roll spot for her performance last week.
Dilday put in three complete-game efforts as the graduate student pitched 19.0 inning allowing 15 hits, and one earned run with 21 strikeouts on the week. In the 3-2 victory over Mercy Thursday afternoon, Dilday limited the Mavericks to six hits while tying a season-high nine strikeouts (3x) as she earned her team-leading fifth victory of the season.
As a team, the Knights are batting .236 with 203 hits, 64 RBI, 70 runs scored, and have earned 54 walks in 859 at-bats.
Leading the Way
- Sophomore Caroline Pescatore (North Babylon, N.Y.) leads the team with a batting average of .333 with 22 hits, one double, five RBI, and 11 runs scored.
- The North Babylon native has tallied five multi-hit games with two three-hit performances.
- Senior Ann Grimshaw (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) is batting .315 with a team-high 34 hits, a team-high seven doubles, one home run and has recorded 12 RBI
- The senior saw a 20-game hitting streak come to end last week.
- Junior Dyana Budakowski (Washingtonville, N.Y.) is batting .277 with 28 hits, one double, one triple with four RBI, and a team-high 13 runs scored.
- Budakowski has tallied seven multi-hit games on the season.
- In the pitching circle, Dilday leads the team with five wins to go with a team-high 80 strikeouts.
- The Castle Rock native has recorded three nine strikeouts outing with one shutout win.

The Knights take a four-game win streak over the Dolphins into Staten Island as they look to clinch the series over their fellow CUNY foes.
On the road, the Knights are 2-2 in the previous two trips having split the doubleheaders.
As a team, the Dolphins are batting .260 with 274 hits, 118 RBI, 132 runs scored, with 78 earned walks in 1053 at-bats.
Mariah Carcano leads the Dolphins with a batting average of .328 with 42 hits, one double, seven RBI, and 22 runs scored. While Anissa Acosta is batting .288 with 34 hits, 12 doubles, four home runs, 21 runs scored, and a team-high 25 RBI.
