Softball Opens East Coast Conference Play Against D’Youville

FLUSHING, N.Y.  – East Coast Conference play officially gets underway on Sunday (Mar. 26) afternoon as the Queens College softball team welcomes the Saints of D'Youville University to QC Softball Field. 
 
Scouting the Knights (Overall Record: 1-13)
 
It was two tough losses in a midweek non-conference doubleheader against Goldey Beacom College Thursday afternoon on the road as the Knights fell 3-2 in extra innings before dropping the nightcap to the score of 6-1. 
 
While on Monday (Mar. 13) afternoon sophomore Amanda Baez (Selden, N.Y.) earned an East Coast Conference Honor Roll spot. (Link)
 
As a team, the Knights are batting .185 with 62 hits, 16 RBI, 21 runs scored, and 16 walks in 335 At-Bats. 
 
Leading the Way
  • Baez leads the way with a team-high .342 batting average with 10 hits, 3 runs scored, one double, and two RBI. 
    • The sophomore has tallied three multi-hit games with a season-best three hits against Embry-Riddle (Mar. 11).
  • While junior Jenny Murphy (East Islip, N.Y.) is batting .258 with eight hits, one double two runs scored, and a team-high three RBI.
  • In the circle graduate student Allyson Dilday (Castle Rock, CO.) has earned the lone for the Knights. 
    • In game one on Thursday (Mar. 23) afternoon against Goldey Beacom, Dilday struck out a season-high nine batters while allowing six hits and two earned runs.

The Saints enter Flushing with an overall record of 6-14 and are on a three-game losing streak having fallen to Le Moyne and Franklin Pierce early in the week. 
 
Queens is 2-2 at home against the Saints, while the road games have been unkind as the Knights will look to end an 0-4 losing streak later in the season. 
 
As a team, the Saints are batting .265 with 145 hits, 60 RBI, 75 runs scored with 57 walks in 548 At-Bats. 
 
Gianna Adamo leads the offense batting .371 with 23 hits, three doubles, three RBI and nine runs scored. Hannah Bardeen is batting .302 with 16 hits, four doubles, one triple, four home runs, 13 runs scored, and a team-high 15 RBI. 
 
Sarah Parzych leads the Saints with four wins in the circle.
 
Next Pitch: Head coach Amy Delmore and the Knights continue ECC play on Tuesday (Mar. 28) afternoon as they welcome the Dolphins of College of Staten Island to QC Softball Field. First pitch set for 2:00 p.m.
