Game Day Preview: Softball Continues Non-Conference Action Against Goldey-Beacom

FLUSHING, N.Y.  – Before opening East Coast Conference action, the Queens College softball team will travel to Hockessin, Del in non-conference action against CACC member Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College Thursday (Mar. 23) afternoon. 
 
Scouting the Knights (Overall Record: 1-11)
 
Last week Queens fell in tough two non-conference doubleheader losses to NE10 opponents Adelphi University and Southern New Hampshire University. 
 
Junior Dyana Budakowski (Washingtonville, N.Y.) led the way batting .300 with three hits, one double, one triple, to go with a RBI and one run scored. The junior recorded her first multi-hit game of the season going 2-3 AB with a triple and one RBI against #15 Adelphi University Thursday afternoon.
 
On Monday (Mar. 13) afternoon sophomore Amanda Baez (Selden, N.Y.) earned an East Coast Conference Honor Roll spot. (Link)
 
As a team, the Knights are batting .177 with 50 hits, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored, and 14 walks in 282 At-Bats. 
 
Leading the Way
  • Baez leads the way with a team-high .342 batting average with 10 hits, 3 runs scored, one double, and two RBI. 
    • The sophomore has tallied three multi-hit games with a season-best three hits against Embry-Riddle (Mar. 11).
  • While junior Jenny Murphy (East Islip, N.Y.) is batting .280 with seven hits, one double two runs scored, tied for a team-high two RBI.
  • In the circle graduate student Allyson Dilday (Castle Rock, CO.) has earned the lone for the Knights.

Thursday's doubleheader against the Lightning will be the first-ever matchup in program history.
 
Goldey-Beacom enters Thursday's matchup with an overall record of 19-7 and are on a three-game streak having defeated Bowie State and a sweep over Washington Adventist.
 
As a team, the Lightning are batting .351 with 240 hits, 139 RBI, 169 runs scored with 60 walks in 684 At-Bats. 
 
Morgan Scott leads the team a team-high .439 batting average with 29 hits, six doubles, eight RBI, and 12 runs scored. While Autumn Simpson is batting .387 with 24 hits, 17 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and a team-high 19 RBI. 
 
Alesia Doctor leads the team with five wins in the circle. 
 
Next Pitch: Head coach Amy Delmore and the Knights open East Coast Conference play in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. on Saturday (Mar. 25) afternoon as they matchup against Mavericks of Mercy College. First pitch set for 12:00 p.m.
