Game Day Preview: Women’s Basketball Continues Road Stand to Staten Island

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team concludes a two-game road stand as the Knights travel to Staten Island with a matchup against the College of Staten Island Dolphins in East Coast Conference action at the Sports & Recreation Center.

Series Notes:
  • It will be the second meeting of the season and fourth overall with the Knights leading the series 2-1. 
  • Queens will be looking to sweep the season following their home 66-55 victory over the Dolphins back on Jan. 11.
Scouting the Knights
  • Queens enters the week with an overall record of 6-15 and 4-7 in conference play. 
    • The Knights are coming off a close 52-54 loss to Molloy on Saturday afternoon. 
    • With a conference record of 4-7, the Knights sit at the sixth and final spot to the ECC Postseason Tournament.
  • In 21 games, Queens is averaging 57.9 points per game on 37.8% shooting, 37.0 rebounds, and 12.1 assists per game. 
  • Sophomore Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 13.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. 
    • Reeves matched a career-high 33 points in the victory over Roberts Wesleyan in conference play on Dec. 9.
    • She has tallied three double-doubles on the season.
    • The sophomore has earned ECC Women's Player of the Week honors on two occasions (Jan. 17 (Link) |  Dec. 12 (Link) )and a Honor Roll spot on Dec. 19 (Link).
    • Reeves has earned two Honorable mentions from the MBWA this season on Dec. 13 (Link), Dec. 20 (Link), and Jan. 17 (Link).
  • While junior Khadija Demry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 8.7 points per game.
    • Demry matched a career-high 24 points against Stonehill (Dec. 29) and team-high 14 points in the victory over Molloy. On Saturday (Jan. 7), the guard added 15 points against Franklin Pierce.
    • On Tuesday (Jan. 3), Demry was awarded ECC Player of the week honors. (Link)
  • Rookie Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) is averaging 12.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in conference play. 
    • Davis tallied a career-high 22 points against Daemen on Jan. 29. 
    • The Rookie is coming off a team-high 17 points on Feb. 4 against Molloy. 
    • Davis was named ECC Rookie of the Week on Jan. 30 (Link) and earned a Honor Roll spot on Feb. 6 (Link)
    • On Tuesday (Jan. 31) Davis earned a MBWA Honorable Mention spot (Link) 
Scouting the Dolphins
  • Staten Island is 8-14 overall and 4-8 in ECC play.
    • The Dolphins are coming off a 1-1 Buffalo trip having fallen to Daemen before ending the trip with a victory over D'Youville.
    • With a 4-8 ECC record, the Dolphins sit one spot behind the Knights with Queens holding the tiebreaker. 
  • In 22 games, the Dolphins are averaging 59.3 points on 37.6% shooting, 36.5 rebounds, and 12.8 assists per game.
  • Jenalyse Alacron leads the offense averaging 11.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
    • Alarcon tallied a season-high 25 points over Roberts Wesleyan on Jan. 21.
  • Ashley Lambert is averaging 9.4 points per game. 
    • Lambert tallied a season-high 20 points against Wilmington. 
Next Jump Ball
  • Head coach Bet Naumovski and the Knights return home on Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon as the Knights welcome the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia to Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Tip-off set for 3:30 p.m.
