NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Tuesday (Jan. 31) morning, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced week seven of the weekly awards and Queens College women's basketball freshman guard
Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y) earned a honorable mention spot.
Davis becomes the second women's basketball player this season to earn a Honorable mention after sophomore guard
Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who has earned a spot on three occasions this season.
On Monday (Jan. 30) Davis earned
East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors following her strong performances last week.
In three games of action, Davis averaged 13.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocks as the rookie tallied 41 points, 18 rebounds, six steals, and four blocks in the Knights 1-2 week.
In the OT victory over D'Youville, Davis recorded her third double-double of the season as she matched her career-high 16 points with 11 rebounds, a career-high five steals, and three blocks Friday evening.
On Sunday afternoon Davis concluded the week notching a career-high 22 points on 52.6% shooting against Daemen University.
In nine conference games, the rookie is averaging 11.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
UP NEXT: Davis and the women's basketball team return to action on the road as they travel to Rockville Centre, N.Y. with a matchup against the Lions of Molloy University on Saturday (Feb. 4) afternoon. Tip-off is set for noon.
