Game Day Preview: Women’s Basketball Concludes Week Against Firebirds on Alumni Day

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team returns to Fitzgerald Gymnasium on Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon as East Coast Conference continues with a match-up against the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia on Alumni Day.

Series Notes:
  • It will be the second meeting of the season and 25th overall with the Knights trailing the series 10-14.
  • Queens are looking to end a seven-game losing streak to the Firebirds with the last coming back on January 27, 2018. 
  • The Knights are looking for their first home win since December 30, 2017. 
  • Queens holds a 6-5 record inside Fitzgerald Gymnasium.   
Scouting the Knights
  • Queens enters Saturday with an overall record of 6-16 and 4-8 in conference play. 
    • The Knights are looking to shake off a three-game losing streak and are coming off a 46-57 loss to fellow CUNY member College of Staten Island Wednesday evening.
    • With a conference record of 4-8, the Knights sit at the sixth and final spot to the ECC Postseason Tournament.
  • In 22 games, Queens is averaging 57.4 points per game on 37.4% shooting, 37.2 rebounds, and 12.0 assists per game. 
  • Sophomore Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 12.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. 
    • Reeves matched a career-high 33 points in the victory over Roberts Wesleyan in conference play on Dec. 9.
    • She has tallied three double-doubles on the season.
    • The sophomore has earned ECC Women's Player of the Week honors on two occasions [Jan. 17 (Link) | Dec. 12 (Link)] and a Honor Roll spot on Dec. 19 (Link).
    • Reeves has earned two Honorable mentions from the MBWA this season on Dec. 13 (Link), Dec. 20 (Link), and Jan. 17 (Link).
  • Rookie Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) is averaging 12.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game in conference play. 
    • Davis tallied a career-high 22 points against Daemen on Jan. 29. 
    • The Rookie is coming off her fourth double-double of the season as she tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds against CSI on Wednesday (Feb. 8) evening.  
    • Davis was named ECC Rookie of the Week on Jan. 30 (Link) and earned a Honor Roll spot on Feb. 6 (Link)
    • On Tuesday (Jan. 31) Davis earned a MBWA Honorable Mention spot (Link)
Scouting the Firebirds
  • District of Columbia enters Saturday with a 13-11 overall record and 8-5 in conference play.
    • The Firebirds are coming off a 74-68 victory over Molloy University Wednesday evening at home. 
    • With an 8-5 record in conference play, UDC sits fourth in the conference standing. 
  • In 24 games on the season, they are averaging 68.6 points on 39.1% shooting, 38.9 rebounds, and 12.5 assists per game. 
  • Destiny Ryles leads the offense averaging 17.4 points per game.
    • Ryles tallied a season-high 32 points against Mercy on Jan. 28.
  • Latavia Jackson is averaging 17.1 points per game. 
    • Jackson recorded a season-high 33 points against Georgian Court.
Next Jump Ball
  • Head coach Bet Naumovski and the Knights open a three-game road stand as they return to non-conference play on Wednesday (Feb. 18) evening with a trip to Wilmington, DE as they match up against the Wildcats of Wilmington University (Del.). Tip-off set for 5:00 p.m.
