M/W Cross Country Knights Register Career Times in NJIT Highlander XC Challenge Saturday Afternoon

NEWARK, N.J. – Competing in rainy conditions, the Queens College men's and women's cross country team continued their preparations for the East Coast Conference Championship as they competed in the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park Saturday afternoon. 
 
Competing against some tough competitions the women's side placed 13 out of 26 teams in the 5K race, while the men's side placed 16 out of 29 teams in the 8K race. 
 
Women's 5K Highlights
  1. Sophomore Rachel Mow (Esopus, N.Y.) paced the Knights finishing first with a time of 20:48.8 to register her second-best time of the year to earn a top-50 finish for a 39th placing.
  2. While senior Natalia Cuttler (Islip, N.Y.) would record a career-best time of 21:23.0 for a 54th placing.
  3. Sophomore Madelyn McMath (Carmel, N.Y.) recorded her career-best time of 23:45.5 to overtake her previous best time of 25:38.3.
  4. Junior Nicole Colombi (Wantagh, N.Y.) would be the next time to finish with a time of 23:50.03.
  5. Sophomore Ashley Rodriguez Perez (Emlhurst, N.Y.) notched her career-best time of 25:17.6 in the course. 

Men's 8K Highlights
  1. Freshman Daniel DeGregori (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded a new career-best time of 27:52.3 as he missed out on a top-50 finish to place 51st.
  2. Junior Abdi Mohamed (Fargo, ND) completed the course in 28:57.1 to record a new career-best time with a 67th-place finish.
  3. While the junior duo of Peter Hoffmann (Astoria, N.Y.) Kyle Daniels (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) completed the course together with a .3 split difference as Daniel recorded a time of 30:32.4 and Hoffmann with a time of 30:32.7 as both duo registered career-best times. 
  4.  Senior Paulo Criollo (Ambato, Ecuador) rounded the course in 31:29.2 to register a new time as well.

UP NEXT: Head Coach Greg Welch and the Knights conclude the regular season on Saturday (Oct. 14) morning as they compete in the SJLI Invitational in Kings Park, N.Y. at Sunken Meadow State Park. The first race is set for 11:00 a.m.
