Softball Battle for ECC Postseason Spot Continues

FLUSHING, N.Y.  – Six games on the docket as the Queens College softball team continues East Coast Conference play starting Tuesday (Apr. 19) afternoon as Molloy College Lions come to Flushing.
 
The Knights will end the week on the road as they travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. on Thursday (Apr. 21) with a matchup against Mercy College and on Saturday (Apr. 23) afternoon against D'Youville University.

Scouting the Knights 
Queens (4-23 overall, 4-11 ECC) is coming off a Saturday afternoon split against Bridgeport. The Knights are starting to find their groove with the battle for the fourth seed in the East Coast Conference postseason tournament race on.
 
As a team, the Knights are batting .228, with .586 OPS, and .302 slugging % with 158 hits and 59 runs scored. 
 
Senior Ann Grimshaw (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) leads the offense holding a .300 batting average with 24 hits, eight doubles, a home run, and 12 RBIs. While freshman Amanda Baez (Selden, N.Y.) is batting .302 with 19 hits, seven runs scored, and four RBIs on the season. 
 
On Monday, junior Dyana Budakowski (Washingtonville, N.Y.) was named to the ECC honor sheet for her pitching performance in the game two victory over Bridgeport Saturday afternoon. 
 
Scouting the Lions
Molloy (17-21 overall, 8-6 ECC) earned a Saturday ECC split against Mercy. The Lions swept the Knights earlier in the year.
 
As a team, the Lions are batting .301 with .782 OBP, .427 slugging %, and have tallied 171 runs on 306 hits. 
 
Alex Burns leads the offense batting .390 with 41 hits, six doubles, a triple, four home runs, and a team-high 25 RBIs. While Courtney Greene holds a .291 batting average with 32 hits, seven doubles, six home runs, and 21 RBIs. 
 
Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy (8-29 overall, 4-10 ECC) is coming off a weekend split against Molloy and will host St. Thomas Aquinas College on Tuesday before welcoming the Knights on Thursday. Mercy split with Queens in Flushing on April 9th
 
As a team, the Mavericks are batting .258 with .649 OBP and .335 slugging % with 255 hits and 119 runs scored. 
 
Samantha Franck leads the offense batting .362 with 34 hits, eight doubles, a triple, two home runs, and 22 RBIs. While Sydney Johnston holds a .264 batting average with 23 hits, five doubles, and 14 RBIs.
 
Scouting the Saints
D'Youville (18-12 overall, 7-9 ECC) is coming off a Saturday afternoon split with STAC and will travel to Edinboro University for a midweek non-conference matchup. 
 
 As a team, the Saints are batting .293 with .358 OBP and .390 slugging % with 239 hits and 166 runs scored.
 
Hannah Bardeen leads the offense batting .419 with 31 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs, and 30 RBIs. While Mikaela Milleville holds a .294 batting average with 20 hits, three doubles, a triple, a home run, and 18 RBIs. 
 
Next Series
 
The Knights welcome the College of Staten Island Dolphins to Flushing on Tuesday (Apr. 26) afternoon. The First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. In between games, the Knights will host their annual senior day ceremony for their graduating seniors.
