FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College softball team continues non-conference action as they travel to Garden City, New York with a regional matchup against the Panthers of Adelphi University Friday (Mar. 18) afternoon.

Both sides are meeting for the first time since the 2014 season which saw Queens go 2-1 against Adelphi including the Knights beating the Panthers 5-0 in the NCAA East Regional tournament. But the Panthers hold a 10-21 series edge since the 2001 season.
On the road, the Knight has fared slightly better winning six games in Garden City since 2001.

Queens
(0-2 overall) opened the season last week as they met up against Georgian Court but would fall in both games in New Jersey.
Junior
Cyarra Alvarado (Coral Spring, Fla) leads the offense batting .400, .400 slugging %, .571 on-base % and has tallied two hits, and a home run on the season. While junior
Joy Papagianopoulos (Wading River, N.Y.) is batting .333 with .833 slugging % and .429 on-base%. She is tied for hits (2) and RBIs with Alvarado to open the season.
Scouting the Panthers
Adelphi
(8-6 overall) has 14 games under their belt and is riding a four-game winning streak having swept East Coast Conference foes Mercy College and University of Bridgeport this week.
The offense is led by Courtney Wengryn batting .457 with 16 hits, four doubles, two home runs, and team-high 13 RBIs on the season. While Alexa Sacripante is batting .326 with 14 hits and is second on the team with 12 RBIs.
Next Series
The Knights will host their first doubleheader of the season on Sunday (Mar. 20) as they welcome East Stroudsburg University Warriors to Flushing. The first pitch is set for noon.
