BETHPAGE, N.Y.- Hitting the courses for the first time since the 2019 season, the Queens College men's and women's cross country competed in the Adelphi Panthers XC Invitational Friday afternoon at Bethpage State Park.
The women's placed eleventh with a total time of 2:17:48.70, while the men's side finished tenth with a total time of 2:46:02.50.
Women's 5K
Head coach
Robert Davis debuted four fresh faces along with returner sophomore
Alexis Hall (West Rive, MD) in the 5K race.
Hall fell short of the top 50 finish as she placed 51st with a time of 22:55.10. Newcomer
Natalia Cuttler (Islip, N.Y.)finished with a time of 25:59.40.
Melanie Rodriguez (East New York, N.Y.) finished with a time of 28:59.00, while
Fatima Morrobel (Long Beach, N.Y.) was not far behind finishing in 29:22.50.
Olutoyosi Ajanlekoko (Queens, N.Y.) completed the course in 30:32.90.
Men's 8K
On the men's side, five newcomers made their debut in Knights color along with returner junior
Steven Cuascut (Queens Village, N.Y.)
Graduate transfer
Njehan Phillip (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced the Knights finishing 41st with a time of 28:29.40. Rounding out the top-50 finishes, Cuascut completed the 8K course with a time of 28:41.40.
Transfer
Andrew O'Gorman (Melville, N.Y.) was the next one to finish with a time of 34:08.90, followed by freshman
Elijah Ullah (New Windsor, N.Y.) in 35:00.40.
Rookies
Valeriy Borkun (White Plains, N.Y.) finished the course just under 40 minutes with a time of 39:42.60, while
Keith Hyland (Levittown, N.Y.) rounded the Knights afternoon with a time of 43:24.90.
Head coach Robert Davis Post Meet Comment: "Today's meet was a stepping stone for us. Competing after a year off, I thought the team competed well."
NEXT MEET: Both programs will have three weeks to regroup before hitting the courses again. The Knights will travel to Milton, N.Y. as they compete in the Mount Saint Mary XC Series on Sept. 26.
