Indoor Track and Field Opens 19-20 Season at Yale

New Haven, Conn:  The Queens College Men's and Women's track and field kicked off their 2019-20 season against Division 1 competition on Saturday hosted by Yale University.

Results

Women's Result:
Freshmen Giselle Aparacio placed fifth in the 5000-meter event with a time of 22:20.47
Freshmen Bianca Hiltz earned a top 10 finish finishing with a time of 10.67 in the 60 meter Hurdle.
Junior Crystal Jia earned a top-five finish in the 1000-meter event with a time of 3:19.20.
In the weight throw, sophomore Isabella Allocco placed fourth with a throw of 12.86 m, while senior Kennedy Williams finished fifth with a throw of 12.36m.
In the triple jump, senior Nyakuome Thichiot earned a top-five finish with a jump of 10.99m.

Men's Result:
In the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore Ismail Abdullah finished in the top five with a time of  8:71.
The Knights beat out stiff competition in the 1000 meter run as Queens placed four in the top 10 as sophomore Myles Jackson placed fifth with a time of 2:42:00. Freshmen Johan Servones finished seventh with a run time of 2:46:36 while senior Clivensky Etienne placed ninth with a time of 2:49.12 with sophomore Philippe Bernardin finished 10th completing his run in 2:50.36.
In the 200 meter dash, freshmen Jahmel Maynor-Mendez placed second besting competition from Hartford, St. Peters and Sacred Heart in 22.66.
The good run continued in the 4x400 meter relay as the team of sophomore Hakeem Alexander-Blake/freshmen Jeremy Herbert/Jackson/Maynor-Mendez tied for a fourth-place finish with St. Peters with a time of 3:26.27.
Coming off a stellar freshmen season, sophomore Andrew Saulpaugh placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 15.45m, while classmate Robert Skidmore placed seventh with a throw of 12.05m.
The Knights earned two top-five finished in the shot put event, as transfer Danial Diaz placed fourth with a throw of 13.96m, while Saulpaugh placed fifth with a throw of 12.64m.
In the triple jump category, sophomore Pavan Bhat placed second with a jump of 13.87m.

After the completed event, Head Coach Robert Davis had the following to say: " was very pleased with both teams and their performance in how they stepped up to the D1 competition at Yale."

Up Next: It is a quick turnaround for the Knights as they return to action on Sunday (12.8.19) in the FDU Knight Classic in Teaneck, New Jersey.
