QC Falls Short In Final Game In Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Queens College baseball team completed its opening slate of games with a 7-6 loss to Merrimack in the fifth and final game at the at the Ripken Experience Northeast Challenge.  Ahead 6-2, the Knights saw the Warriors come back with a five run seventh inning to take the victory.

Sophomore Kevin Kolesar, junior Jorge Ruiz and senior Matt Dawkins paced the Knights with three hits apiece in the game, while Ruiz and Dawkins each drove in two runs.

Starter Brandon Burrell went the first six innings for QC, surrendering just two runs.  Kyle Bell took the loss for Queens, allowing five runs in 1.2 innings.  Joe Westerman picked up the win in relief for Merrimack.

The Knights are back in action Mar. 5 with a home double dip against New Haven.
