Box Score Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team outhit the Dowling Golden Lions, 7-5 but loss 4-1, in an East Coast Conference baseball game played on Thursday in Flushing. Thomas Parish and Nick Morici each had two hits to lead the Knights.
Brandon Burrell took the start for Queens and blanked Dowling for five innings. He allowed just two baserunners in the first five innings (both via walks), but they were erased on a pair of double plays by QC.
Queens took a 1-0 lead in the fifth. James Donohue led off the inning with a walk. Morici singled through the left side and Donohue reached second. From there, Kevin Kolesar ripped an RBI single to right that scored Donohue.
The Golden Lions responded with three runs in the top of the sixth. They collected three hits in the frame including a two-RBI double.
Queens got two on in the seventh, but were erased on a double play. Dowling scored one more in the eighth and went on to win, 4-1.
Burrell took the loss as he gave up three runs on just three hits in six innings. Crissandry Javier and Thomas Zaki pitched the final three innings. Donohue, Kolesar, Parish and Diego Gonzalez all had stolen bases in the game.
The two teams return to action on Saturday, April 4, in a doubleheader from Oakdale, New York. The first pitch is slated for noon.
