Box Score Brookhaven, N.Y. - The Queens College baseball team entered Sunday trying to avoid a sweep at the hands of Dowling, but they lost to the Golden Lions, 14-2, in a game played in Brookhaven, New York on Sunday. Nick Osburn had two hits and a run scored to lead the Knights.
QC fell behind 11-0 as Dowling scored five times in the first, once in the second and five times in the fifth. The Knights finally got on the board in the sixth. Osburn singled and stole second. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Dan Walsh ground out. Queens was finally on the board.
QC scored again in the seventh when Joe Morris reached on an error. A pair of singles from David Velazquez and Lebro Burnette moved Morris around as Burnette got the RBI. Dowling went on to win 14-2.
Joseph Broderick took the loss for the Knights. Crissandry Javier threw two-thirds of an inning, but didn't allow an earned run. With the loss, Queens is now 7-14 overall, 2-10 in the East Coast Conference.
The team returns to action on Wednesday, April 16, when they host Wilmington. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
