Easton, Mass. - The women's tennis match between Queens College and Stonehill on Sunday pitted a pair of top-10 programs in the east facing each other, and #2 QC prevailed over the #9 Skyhawks, 9-0, in a match played in Easton, Massachusetts.
The Knights dominated play as they won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches. In fact, Queens won ever match on the day in straight sets.
Singles play saw Yevgeniya "Jenna" Plevako come out on top, 6-2, 6-1. Aylin Mehter won her match, 6-4, 6-1. Andrea Samson won 3 and 1, while Jennifer Fridman won by identical 6-1 scores. Anna Rodionova triumphed, 6-2, 6-2, and Darby Brandon won 7-6 (7-1), 6-0.
In doubles play, the team of Plevako and Fridman and the combination of Mehter and Samson both won 8-1. The pairing of Rodionova and Brandon produced an 8-3 victory.
The Queens College women's tennis team improved to 15-2 overall. They are ranked 32nd in the nation.
