Queens Women’s Tennis Sweeps ECC Weekly Honors

COLONIA, N.J. – In the ninth East Coast Conference weekly report, three Queens College women's tennis student-athletes earned recognition, highlighted by junior Sixtine Goubet (Lyon, France), who was named Player of the Week.Rookie Ela Vasic (Novi Sad, Serbia) garnered Rookie of the Week honors, while junior Lilie Bizouerne (La Ciotat, France) was selected to the Honor Roll.

Player of the Week

In a 2-0 ECC week for the Knights, Goubet went a perfect 4-0 across singles and doubles play. She opened the week with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles before rallying for a three-set comeback victory over D'Youville's Nele Herst at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6). Goubet closed out the week with another 6-1 doubles win and a thrilling 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles against STAC's Kateryna Kryuchkova.

Rookie of the Week

Vasic also posted a 4-0 week, earning two doubles victories at No. 1 and wins in singles at both the No. 4 and No. 3 courts. She began with a 6-3 doubles win and a straight-set victory over Mina Randjelovic at No. 4 singles. Vasic capped her week with a 7-5 doubles victory and a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over STAC's Sun Zhouzuan at No. 3 singles.

Honor Roll

Bizouerne matched the effort with a 4-0 performance. She opened with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles and a shutout victory over D'Youville's Erika Ismailova at No. 3 singles. Against STAC, Bizouerne added a 6-1 doubles win and secured a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles over Mar Caneves Bufi.

Next Match:

Queens returns home on Friday, April 3, to host No. 25 Thomas Jefferson University in non-conference action. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
