Women's Tennis Claims First-Ever CACC Regular Season Title, Earns Three First Team All-CACC Selections

FLUSHING, N.Y. – In their inaugural season in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), the Queens College women's tennis team lived up to its preseason billing, finishing atop the conference standings to claim the program's first-ever CACC Regular Season Championship.

Led by 48th-year head coach Alan Nagel, the Knights finished the regular season with an 11-1 overall record to secure the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CACC Women's Tennis Postseason Tournament, set to take place in Wilmington, Del., on Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18.

Queens will open tournament play against the No. 4-seeded Chestnut Hill College Griffins in Saturday's first semifinal. The Knights swept the regular-season series, earning a 6-1 road victory before completing the sweep with a 5-2 win at home.

In the other semifinal, the No. 2-seeded Thomas Jefferson University Rams, who shared the regular-season championship, will face the No. 3-seeded Wilmington University Wildcats on Saturday.

With a victory over the Griffins, Queens will advance to Sunday's championship match to face either the Rams or the Wildcats. The CACC Championship winner will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2027 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship in May.

The Knights are led by three First Team All-CACC selections: seniors Sixtine Goubet and Lilie Bizouerne and sophomore Ela Vasic.

Goubet finished the regular season with an 8-1 singles record, including six victories at the No. 1 position. In doubles play, she posted a 9-2 record, including a perfect 5-0 mark at the No. 2 position.

Bizouerne completed the regular season undefeated in singles play with an 11-0 record, earning three victories at the No. 2 position and eight at No. 3. In doubles play, the senior recorded a 10-2 mark, including four victories at the No. 1 position and six at No. 2.

Vasic finished the regular season with an 11-1 singles record, earning four victories at the No. 1 position and seven at No. 2. In doubles play, she posted a 7-5 record, including five victories at the No. 2 position.

Graduate student Allycia Santa-Cruz was also recognized, earning a spot on the CACC All-Sportsmanship Team. The inaugural CACC Women's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes one student-athlete from each conference institution who, as selected by the coaches, best exemplifies class, character and sportsmanship in practice, competition and off the court.
