Queens College Women's Tennis Improves to 8-1 with 9-0 win over Georgian Court

Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team improved to 8-1 on the season with a 9-0 blanking of Georgian Court on Friday.  The team is now ranked 33rd nationally.

The Knights won all three doubles matches as the team of Andrea Samson and Jennifer Fridman won the first doubles, 8-3.  In second doubles, Anna Rodionova and Darby Brandon were victorious, 8-2, while the combo of Kim Xiong and Jenna Plevako won, 8-1.

In singles play, Weronika Kurka kept her record spotless (at 2-0) with a 6-1, 6-2 win.  Plevako won her match, 6-2, 6-0, while Fridman was triumphant, 6-2 and 6-1.  Samson won her match without losing a game, and Brandon came out on top, 6-0, 6-1.  Finally, Xiong closed out the day with a 6-2, 7-5 victory.

The team returns to action on Saturday when they face ECC foe, Dowling College.
