FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team, ranked No. 28 nationally in the Campbell's/ITA NCAA Division II Poll, lost by a 6-1 count Saturday afternoon in its regular-season finale against NCAA Division I opponent, New Jersey Institute of Technology (19-3).
The host Knights (17-1) will now await the announcement of selections into the NCAA Division II Championships, which take place the week of April 22. Preliminary-round play commences April 28 and runs until May 1. Head coach Alan Nagel's QC side was most recently ranked No. 1 in the East Region in the NCAA's tally.
Senior Taylor Barber (Salt Lake City, Utah) won the lone match on the afternoon for the Knights, as she took down the Highlanders' Megan Guidry by a score of 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
Queens completed the regular season undefeated against NCAA Division II competition.
