Middle of Lineup Sends No. 28 Women's Tennis Past Holy Family, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA - Strong play through the middle of the lineup sent the 28th-ranked Queens College women's tennis team to a 6-3 triumph at Holy Family University Sunday afternoon.

The visiting Knights (14-0) won two out of three matches in doubles play to start the day, including freshman Phoebe Chiem (Duluth, Ga.) and sophomore Anna Rodionova (Orenburg, Russia) teaming at the No. 2 flight to oust Maja Pantelic and Steicy Castro by an 8-2 score. Meanwhile, senior Taylor Barber (Salt Lake City, Utah) and junior Daniela Celi (Casselberry, Fla.) shut out Chelsea Brown and Kaitlin Cook by an 8-0 score in No. 3 doubles action.

Freshman Francesca Fanchin (New York, N.Y.) won her No. 2 singles match for Queens against Jin Querubin by identical 6-4 scores, while Chiem took down Pantelic at No. 3, 7-5 and 6-love. Rodionova (6-2, 6-1 vs. Castro) and Celi (6-love, 6-1) emerged victorious in the Nos. 4 and 5 flights, respectively.

Head coach Alan Nagel's Knights are back in action Friday afternoon, when they travel to Philadelphia University for a 3:30 p.m. first serve.
