FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College baseball team wrapped up its 2011 season Sunday afternoon at Ray Metski Field, as the Knights fell in an East Coast Conference clash with visiting Dowling, 11-2. Prior to the contest, Eric Reyes was honored by the team in a senior-day ceremony for his hard work and dedication to the program over the years.
Warren Kelly went 2-for-3 in the game for Queens (10-34, 8-22 ECC), while Reyes, Anthony Mazzella, James Casella and Crisandry Javier all scratched out one hit apiece. Left-hander Jordan Weiner took the loss on the hill for the Knights, throwing seven-plus innings in the process.
Queens jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, when Kelly reached on a one-out walk and later scored on an infield error.
Dowling (22-23, 17-13 ECC) scored in each of the last five innings, including a three-spot in the top of the fifth to take the lead for good and a four-run seventh frame to put the contest out of reach.
The Knights got back on the board in the eighth inning, when Casella scored on a wild pitch.
