No. 28 Women's Tennis Takes Down Holy Family, 9-0

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team, ranked No. 28 nationally in the Campbell/ITA Division II rankings, moved its record to 17-0 on the season with a 9-0 whitewashing of visiting Holy Family. The Knights continue its strong competition en route to the NCAA Division II Championships, which will take place in May; QC earned an automatic berth to the tourney after winning the East Coast Conference title in the fall.

All three doubles squads won for QC, including Linda Tatala-Colin and Andrea Salvetova (8-5, versus Juliana Victoria and Jin Querubin), Erika Goldsmith and Laura Mocodeanu (8-2 over Linda Piecyk and Maja Pantelic) and Maria Mendes and Taylor Barber (8-1 over Chelsea Brown and Steicy Castro).

Mendes won by identical 6-love scores at No. 4 singles over Castro, while Tatala-Colin knocked off Pantelic by a 6-1, 6-love decision at No. 3. 43rd-ranked Mocodeanu (6-2, 6-4) and Goldsmith (6-2, 7-6 (7-3) ) emerged victorious over Victoria and Querubin at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, while Daniela Celi (6-2, 6-love over Piecyk) and Barber (6-1, 7-5 over Brown) won at No. 5 and 6 singles.
