FLUSHING, N.Y. – Concluding their homestand Saturday afternoon, the Queens College women's tennis team welcomed defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champions Wilmington University Wildcats to Flushing for a conference matchup.

Johanne Genestay clinched the victory at the No. 5 court with a three-set triumph, lifting Queens to a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over Wilmington.

Queens fell behind in doubles play as the No. 3 pairing of Genestay and sophomore
Anishka Amalnathan fell to Anna Marry and Nia Lewis, 6-3.
The Knights would respond by tying the match at 1-1 as the No. 2 senior pairing of
Lilie Bizouerne and
Sixtine Goubet earned a 6-3 victory over Siana MacDonald and Elena Camacho.
Down to the No. 1 court, the sophomore
Ela Vasic and rookie
Vilte Vaitkeviciute pairing pushed Wilmington's Claire Traineau and Ines Oliveira, but the Wildcats ultimately secured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.

The Knights began their comeback as Goubet earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Traineau at the No. 1 court before Bizouerne put Queens ahead, 2-1, with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Leandra Schierl at the No. 3 court.
In a battle at the No. 2 court, Vasic earned a 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) victory over MacDonald to extend the Knights' lead to 3-1.
The Wildcats answered back with consecutive singles victories, as Amalnathan fell to Camacho in a three-set battle, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, at the No. 4 court.
Senior
Kayla Taszymowicz then fell to Lewis, 6-4, 6-2, allowing Wilmington to tie the contest at 3-3 and setting up a decisive matchup at the No. 5 court between Genestay and Marry.
Genestay claimed the opening set, 6-1, before Marry rallied to force a third set with a 6-3 second-set victory. Genestay would answer in the deciding set, earning a 6-4 victory to clinch the match for Queens and secure the Knights' fourth victory of the season.
Next Match
Queens returns to action next week with a pair of road matches, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22, as the Knights travel to Sparkill, N.Y., for a CACC matchup against St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.
