BARTOW, FL – Continuing play at THE Spring Games, the Queens College softball team faced Northwood University Timberwolves at the Miss Bartow Sports Complex on Wednesday.
Junior infielder
Kadie Cain (Hauppauge, N.Y.), junior
Caylea Campbell (Murrieta, CA.), junior
Olivia Wanser (Westbury, N.Y.) and rookie infielder
Kayla Denino (North Babylon, N.Y.) each recorded a hit for the Knights.
Queens threatened early in the top of the first inning as senior infielder
Allie Parascandola (East Quogue, N.Y.) reached base after being hit by a pitch and Campbell followed with a bunt single. However, Northwood worked out of the inning to keep the Knights off the scoreboard.
The Timberwolves capitalized in the bottom half of the frame, using two hits, a walk, and a fielding error to build a 2–0 advantage.
Campbell kept the Knights within reach in the circle, limiting Northwood to three hits across six innings while recording a season-high five strikeouts in a strong outing.
Queens had opportunities throughout the game but left six runners on base as Northwood secured the 5–0 result.
Earlier in the day, the Knights took part in an exhibition matchup against the Czech Republic National Team in Prague. Facing a national team provided the Knights with a tremendous challenge and a valuable opportunity to test themselves against high-level international talent.
Next Pitch
The Knights conclude their trip on Thursday, March 12, with matchups against Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Lake Erie College. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
