FLUSHING, N.Y. – Entering his sixth season in charge of the Queens College women's volleyball program, head coach
Stefan Leger has announced the 2025 regular season slate Tuesday afternoon.
Coming off one of their best seasons since 2008, the 2024 season would see Leger and the Knights conclude the season with an overall record of 19-11, 9-3 in East Coast Conference play, clinch a share of the ECC Regular Season Championship and earned the #2 seed to the Women's Volleyball Tournament as they made their third straight postseason appearance.
In Flushing, the Knights posted an overall record of 9-6, while on the road they went 7-5 and on neutral courts they went 3-1.
The co-defending regular season champions have 28 matches lined up which includes 12 ECC matches. 15 matches will be played in Flushing, 10 on the road, and three matches on neutral courts.
Leger and the Knights will tangle with 14 teams that made the postseason tournament in their respective conferences and seven teams that made the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament, including hosting the defending 2024 National Champions.
Non-Conference play will see Queens match up against one Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) foe, one Sunshine State Conference (SSC), six Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) opponents, and seven Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foes.
The season's first serve goes up as the Knights host the Aline Pascale Lubin Invitational, a two-day event beginning on Friday, Sept. 5 against CACC member Post University and NE10 member Assumption University Greyhounds. The Eagles posted a record of 20-11 and made the CACC Championship in 2024, while the Greyhounds went 8-17 and made the NE10 First Round in 2024.
The Invitational concludes on Saturday, Sept. 6 as the Knights host defending National Champions and SSC member Lynn University Fighting Knights and CACC member Wilmington University Wildcats. Lynn posted a tremendous 2024 year with three titles earning the Sunshine State Conference title, the NCAA South Regional Title, and the national title as they concluded the year with an overall record of 33-3. While Wilmington concluded the 2024 season with an overall record of 11-20.
The Knights hit the road for the first time on Tuesday, Sept. 9 as they head to Lakewood, N.J. for a non-conference tilt against defending CACC champions Georgian Court University Lions. The Lions concluded the 2024 season with an overall record of 22-10 and advanced to the NCAA East Regional semifinal round.
Queens will make a quick stop in Flushing on Thursday, Sept. 11 as CACC member Griffins of Chestnut Hill College come to town. The Griffins went 17-10 and made the CACC postseason tournament in 2024.
Opening a six-match road stand away from Queens, Leger and the Knights travel to New Haven, Conn. to compete in the SCSU Tri-Match on Saturday, Sept. 13 against NE10 member and host Southern Connecticut State University Owls and CACC member Holy Family University Tigers. In 2024 the Owls went 4-21, while the Tigers concluded the year with an overall record of 10-18.
Continuing their non-conference road stand, the Knights next travel to Caldwell, N.J. on Tuesday, Sept. 16 against CACC member Tigers of Caldwell University. The Tigers went 2-25 in 2024.
Competing in their third invitational of the year, the Knights head to Stroudsburg, PA for three matches from Friday, Sept. 19 to Saturday, Sept. 20. On Friday Queens match up against Georgian Court for the second time this season before they match up against host and PSAC member East Stroudsburg University Warriors Saturday morning and will conclude the invitatioinal against NE10 member Southern New Hampshire University Penmen. The Warriors went 20-8 and advanced to the PSAC semifinal, while the Penmen went 9-17 and earned a trip to the NE10 quarterfinals.
Returning home for another quick stop, Queens hosts the Yellow Jackets of American International College on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The Yellow Jackets concluded the 2024 season with an overall record of 21-7 as they captured the NE10 Regular Season title, NE10 Championship title, and made the NCAA East Regional final.
ECC play officially opens on the road, beginning with a two-match trip to Western New York. Leger and the Knights open the three-match ECC stand on Saturday, Sept. 27 against defending champions D'Youville University Saints before concluding the trip against defending co-regular season champions Daemen University Wildcats on Sunday, Sept. 28. The Saints concluded the 2024 season with an overall record of 13-16 as they went onto capture their first ECC Championship title and made their first-ever NCAA East Regional appearance. The Wildcats concluded the 2024 season with an overall record of 17-9, hosted the ECC Championship Tournament, and made the NCAA East Regional Tournament.
Queens concludes the trip in Rockville Centre, N.Y. on Wednesday, Oct. 1 against Molloy University Lions. Molloy concluded the year with an overall record of 14-12.
The second four-match homestand of the year begins with back-to-back non-conference matches starting with Pace University Setters on Saturday, Oct. 4 before the Knights match up against the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport on Thursday, Oct. 9. The Setters went 11-11 with a trip to the NE10 Tournament, while the Purple Knights went 20-10 and made the CACC Quarterfinals in 2024.
The week concludes in ECC play on Sunday, Oct. 12 as Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks come to town. The Redhawks went 12-13 in 2024.
Queens concludes the homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 15 against the Mercy University Mavericks. The Mavericks went 16-11 earning a trip to the ECC Championship match and the NCAA East Regional Tournament.
The Knights hit the road for the first time since Oct. 1 as they head to Sparkill, N.Y. on Saturday, Oct. 18 for an ECC contest against St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans. The Spartans posted a record of 7-18 in 2024.
Leger and the Knights open their third four-match homestand and the second half of ECC play starting on Tuesday, Oct. 21 as they welcome the Lions to town. The Knights will then conclude non-conference play on Thursday, Oct. 30 as they host Adelphi University Panthers. The Panthers concluded the 2024 season with an overall record of 23-10, along with advancing to the NE10 and NCAA East Regional semifinal rounds.
Entering the final phase of the regular season, the Knights open the month of November against D'Youville on Saturday, Nov. 1, and conclude the homestand on Sunday, Nov. 2 against Daemen.
The final two regular season road trips see Queens head to Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday, Nov. 8 against the Redhawks before traveling to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. on Wednesday, Nov. 12 for a contest against Mercy.
The regular season officially concludes on Saturday, Nov. 15 as Queens welcomes STAC to town.
East Coast Conference Postseason Tournament
Looking to make their fourth straight ECC postseason berth, the ECC tournament is set to be hosted by the #1 seed from Friday, Nov. 21 to Saturday, Nov. 22.
