FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's tennis team concluded the 2024–2025 season earning Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) awards, along with national and regional team rankings.
Head coach
Alan Nagel and the Knights concluded the 2025 season with an overall record of 10-6. In another stellar season, the Knights won the East Coast Conference regular season title, and the ECC Tournament title, earning their 23
rd NCAA appearance, earning a national ranking as high as 21, and their 10
th appearance as a Sweet 16 participant.
In the ITA Regionally Awards assistant coach
Leighann Sahagun was named Assistant Coach of the Year after helping the Knights to an ECC Championship, the first Knights first since the 2021 season and back-to-back Championship finals trips.
In the final ITA National and Regionally rankings, the Knights earned #26 in the country and #1 in the East Region.
Individually, four Knights earned singles rankings in the East Region, led by
Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt) who secured the highest spot among them with a #5 ranking, senior
Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland) earned #6, senior
Eva Rivoal (Saint-Denis-de-Pile, France) earned #16 and junior
Apolline Lamy (Toulouse, France) ranked #18 in the region.
In doubles, the duo of Makal and senior
Saga Berggren (Uddevalla, Sweden) claimed the #4 spot in the East Region, while teammates Rivoal and Lamy earned a #6 regional ranking.
