No. 37 Queens Wraps Up 24th NCAA Tournament Appearance in Arizona

SURPRIZE, ARIZ. – Making their 11th appearance in the NCAA Championship Finals, the No. 37-ranked Queens College Women's Tennis team saw its season come to an end Tuesday morning in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Knights faced No. 4 seed and No. 6-ranked Catawba College at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.
 
Catawba secured the doubles point before claiming victories in three singles matches to earn a 4-0 win over Queens.

Doubles Play

At No. 3 doubles, the pair of senior Regina Ruiz (Mexico City, Mexico) and sophomore Johanne Genestay (Dinan, France) dropped a 6-2 decision to Agata Budnik and Tina Gomes.

The Indians clinched the doubles point at No. 2 doubles as juniors Lilie Bizouerne (La Ciotat, France) and Sixtine Goubet (Lyon, France) fell to Sofia Antolini and Rin Igarashi, 6-0.

Queens' No. 1 doubles team of senior Marie Bertran (Villelaure, France) and freshman Ela Vasic (Novi Sad, Serbia), ranked No. 42 nationally, was leading the No. 9-ranked duo of Lili Drukerova and Ami Miya, 5-2, before the match went unfinished.

Singles Play

Trailing 1-0 entering singles competition, the Knights were unable to mount a comeback as Catawba earned straight-set victories on courts 4, 5, and 6.
 
At No. 4 singles, Vasic fell to Drukerova, 6-3, 6-1, before Ruiz was defeated by Igarashi, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
 
Genestay dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Katya Kldiashvili at No. 5 singles, sealing the match and ending Queens' season.
 
The Knights conclude the 2025-26 campaign with a 17-5 overall record after advancing to their 11th NCAA Championship Final Rounds appearance, including their third consecutive trip to the national stage. Along the way, Queens captured both the East Coast Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles en route to the program's 24th NCAA Tournament appearance.
