Men’s Tennis Earns 10th Victory of the Year, Sweeps Chestnut Hill Wednesday afternoon

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Continuing non-conference play, the Queens College men's tennis team welcomed the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College to the QC Indoor Tennis Bubble.  
 
In the latest ITA rankings released Wednesday afternoon, the Knights returned to the national poll at the #48 spot.
 
On a day where all 12 members of the team earned a start, the Knights would sweep all nine matches on the day against the Griffins for a convincing 7-0 victory.
 
With the victory, Queens improves to 10-4 overall.

DOUBLES PLAY

Queens would begin the sweep as the #3 pair of sophomore David Cerne (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and rookie Pablo Serrano (Cochabamba, Bolivia) earned a 6-2 victory over Siddarth Malik and Alessio Lefebvre.
 
The #2 pair of sophomore Tim Andersson (Linkoping, Sweden) and junior Viktor Ek Johansson (Stockholm, Sweden) defeated Filippo Relecom and Enzo Puppi to the score of 6-3 as the Knights clinched the doubles points.
 
Queens would complete the sweep as the #1 pair of rookie Samuel Linck (Haarlem, Netherlands) and junior Alexis Martin-Gibiard (Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France) defeated Pablo Cervera and Ewan Brown to the score of 6-4.

SINGLES PLAY

Rookie London Mosquera (Queens, N.Y.) earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Menno Raeymaekers at #6 court before sophomore Loup Alleno (Paris, France) defeated Relecom at #2 court to the score of 6-2, 6-4 to put Queens up 3-0.
 
Rookie Adam Laur (Boulogne Billancourt, France) would clinch the match at #3 court to the score of 6-2, 6-3 over Lefebvre.
 
Sophomore Caleb Brightman (Pawling, N.Y.) earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Puppi to earn the home side's fifth victory of the year.
 
At #1 singles junior Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) earned a hard fought victory over Cervera to the score of 7-5, 6-4 before younger brother rookie Jaime Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) earned a three-set victory over Arnaud Vangenechten with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 victory at #5 court as Queens completed the sweep to the final score of 7-0.

NEXT MATCH

Head coach Somadi Druker and the Knights open a season-high four-match road stand beginning on Saturday, Apr. 12 in Buffalo as they match up against Daemen University Wildcats in East Coast Conference play. The first serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
