#41 Men’s Tennis Completes Doubleheader Sweep in New Hampshire

HOOKSETT, N.H. – Continuing non-conference play the nationally-ranked #41 Queens College men's tennis team concluded their four-match road on Wednesday as they matched up against Franklin Pierce University Ravens and Southern New Hampshire University Penmen on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.
 
The Knights would drop the doubles points in both matches before they rallied earning four singles victories with rookie Samuel Linck (Haarlem, Netherlands) clinching the victory at #5 court against the Ravens before junior Alexis Martin-Gibiard (Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France) clinched the victory over the Penmen at #4 court.
 
With the doubleheader sweep, Queens improves to 14-4 overall on the year.

MATCH ONE VS. FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY

DOUBLES PLAY
The Ravens would take a 1-0 lead into singles as the #1 pair of sophomore Tim Andersson (Linkoping, Sweden) and rookie Samuel Linck (Haarlem, Netherlands) fell against Noe Martin and Joe Herin to the score of 6-4.
 
The #2 Knights pair of Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) and sophomore Loup Alleno (Paris, France) fell 6-3 against Ralph Hiebel and Alejandro Ortiz as the Ravens took a 1-0 lead into singles.
 
The #3 court would go unfinished.
SINGLES PLAY
Andersson at #3 court would tie the match as he defeated Hiebel to the score of 6-4, 6-2.
 
Alleno would give Queens a 2-1 lead as he earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Martin at #2 court.
 
Sophomore Caleb Brightman (Pawling, N.Y.) put Queens up 3-1 as he earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Hugo Diaz Avila at #6 court before Linck clinched the victory at #5 court over Orlando Guerrero to the score of 6-2, 7-5.
 
The singles action at court #1 and #4 went unfinished.

MATCH TWO VS. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY

DOUBLES PLAY
Queens opened doubles play taking an early 1-0 lead as the #3 pair of sophomore David Cerne (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and Pablo Serrano (Cochabamba, Bolivia) earned a shutout victory over Noah Cadilhac and Jeremie Bolduc to the score of 6-0.
 
The Penmen would tie the doubles action at #2 court as Martin-Gibiard and Brightman fell 6-4 against Albert Modol and Phillipp Roeder before the home side took a 1-0 lead into singles play as Foix Sotos and Alleno fell at #1 court against Cade Nadeau and Carlos Molero Llopis to the score of 6-4.
SINGLES PLAY
Trailing 1-0 heading into singles play, the Knights would rally for the second time on the day.
 
Foix Sotos began the comeback earning a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nadeau at #1 court to tie the match at 1-1 before Andersson earned his second singles victory of the afternoon with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory over Roeder at #3 court.
 
Alleno would put Queens up 3-1 as he earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Modol at #2 court before Martin-Gibiard clinched the victory at #4 court over Marcos Castaneda to the score of 6-4, 6-2 as Queens earned a 4-1 victory and their 14th victory of the year.
 
The singles action at court #5 and #6 went unfinished.

NEXT MATCH

Head coach Somadi Druker and the Knights conclude the regular season on Friday, Apr. 18 with their second doubleheader of the week. The Knights will begin the day concluding East Coast Conference play against Daemen University Wildcats before wrapping up the regular season against Saint Michael's College Purple Knights. The first serve is set for 10:00 a.m.
