Brightman Clinches Match at #4 Court as Men’s Tennis Defeats Bentley 4-1 in Rain-Shortened Match

WALTHAM, MASS. – Continuing non-conference play the nationally-ranked #48 Queens College men's tennis team matched up against Bentley University Falcons in Waltham, Massachusetts for a non-conference contest.
 
With rain looming, the Knights would waste little time in picking up the victory as they took doubles courts #1 and #3 before singles courts #1, #2, and #4 earned victories with sophomore Caleb Brightman (Pawling, N.Y.) clinching the victory at #4 court as the Knights earned a 4-1 victory Tuesday afternoon.
 
With the victory, Queens improves to 12-4 overall on the year.

DOUBLES PLAY

The Knights opened the doubles part of the match taking an early 1-0 lead as the #1 pair of sophomore Tim Andersson (Linkoping, Sweden) and junior Viktor Ek Johansson (Stockholm, Sweden) earned a 6-1 victory over Falcons pair of Sandro Bertolina and Rafael Cueto.
 
Queens would clinch the doubles point as the #3 rookie pair of Samuel Linck (Haarlem, Netherlands) and Jaime Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) defeated Jacob Hartman and Ben Liptak to the score of 6-3.
 
The #2 court match would go unfinished.

SINGLES PLAY

Andersson would put Queens up 2-0 with a victory at #2 court as he earned a quick victory to the score of 6-1, 6-0 over Cueto.
 
Junior Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) put the Knights in a commanding lead of 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ansh Chadha at #1 court.
 
The Falcons would cut the advantage down to 3-1 as rookie Jaime Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) fell at #6 court to the score of 2-6, 2-6 against Hartman.
 
With threatening to cut the match short, Brightman would earn a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Albert Soukup at #4 court as Queens earned the victory to the final score of 4-1 and their 12th victory of the year.
 
The singles action at court #3 and #5 went unfinished.

NEXT MATCH

Head coach Somadi Druker and the Knights conclude the road in New Hampshire with a Wednesday, Apr. 16 doubleheader against Franklin Pierce University Ravens and Southern New Hampshire University Penmen. The first serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
