Behind strong play from White and Conrad, the Knights battled back to even the score at 11-11 after consecutive kills from the duo. Conrad then delivered her 10th kill of the match to give Queens its first lead of the set, 12-11, forcing a Mercy timeout as the Knights had mounted an impressive 12-6 run.

The Mavericks responded with a 4-2 stretch out of the timeout to regain a 15-14 edge, but the Knights continued to fight, reclaiming the lead at 18-17 and prompting Mercy to use its final timeout of the set.

White and Osterhoudt powered the Knights' attack as Queens built a 24-21 advantage, but back-to-back points from the Mavericks cut the deficit to one at 24-23, leading Queens to call its final timeout.

The Mavericks rallied to tie the score at 24-24, and the two teams traded points in a thrilling back-and-forth finish before the Knights ultimately fell in a hard-fought 31-29 set, giving Mercy a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set opened with another tight exchange, as both sides traded points through the early stages to an even 5-5 start. The Mavericks then seized momentum, stringing together six straight points to build an 11-5 lead and force a Queens timeout.
