WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Wednesday (May 8) afternoon the East Coast Conference office announced the 2024 Baseball All-Conference honorees, and the Queens College baseball team was highly represented on the First and Second Teams.
On Sunday, May 5, the Knights set a new regular season program record in wins with 30, breaking the 29 wins set in 2023, and on Wednesday the program would break another record as the Knights earned a program record Eight All-Conference honors led by three First Team honors, and five Second Team honors, breaking the seven honorees earned last season.
Since the 2016 season, Queens has seen at least one player named to the ECC All-Conference team, and the numbers have grown each year as head coach
Chris Reardon and his coaching staff continue to elevate the program to higher and better standards.
Leading the way were three Knights in junior first baseman
Matt Filip (Maspeth, N.Y.), sophomore right fielder
Jorsixt Jimenez (Flushing, N.Y.), and senior righty
Jordan Sanabria (Woodside, N.Y.) who earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference honors.
While five Knights were awarded Second Team All-Conference honors in junior second baseman
Marc Cisco (Long Island City, N.Y.), senior shortstop
Francis Segarra (Bronxville, N.Y.), sophomore designated hitter
Joey Patane (Commack, N.Y.), junior righty
Caleb Cassie (Vancouver, B.C.) and senior righty
Danny Gargano (Middle Island, N.Y.).
First Team Honors
Matt Filip | Maspeth, N.Y. | Junior | First baseman

For the first time in his career, Filip has earned All-ECC First Team honors to go with his All-ECC Second Team honors earned during his freshman and sophomore years.
Despite a slow start to the year, Filip has been a fixture in the middle of the lineup and continuously produced when his team needed him big. In 42 regular season games the Maspeth batted .272, OPS % of .791, SLG % of .437 notching 41 hits, seven doubles, six home runs
(tied for first on the team), 19 walks, 27 runs scored and 35 RBI
(second on the team).
Filip has earned multiple honors on the ECC Baseball Weekly Report Sheet including earning Player of the Week honors on the final weekly report sheet of the year.
In the ECC play despite missing one series due to injury Filip finished conference play batting .329, OPS % of 1.009, SLG % of .714, with 23 hits, five doubles, five home runs, nine walks, 14 runs scored, and 23 RBI.
Jorsixt Jimenez | Flushing, N.Y. | Sophomore | Right Fielder

For the second straight year, Jimenez has earned All-ECC First Team honors. The 2024 regular season has been one year to remember for the sophomore as he leads the Knights in nearly every offensive category.
Jimenez led the offense averaging a team-high .402 BA, 1.135 OPS%, .637 SLG% with 72 hits, 20 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 48 RBI, 46 runs scored to go with 29 walks, and 16 stolen bases. On the year he recorded 22
(13 (2), 7 (3), 2 (4)) multi-hit games to go with 15
(10 (2), 3 (3), 2 (4)) multi-RBI games on the year.
The sophomore earned multiple honors on the ECC Baseball Weekly Report Sheet including a Player of the Week honors. On Thursday (Apr. 4) Jimenez was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
(NCBWA) East Regional Player of the Week for the first time this year.
Jordan Sanabria | Woodside, N.Y. | Senior | Starting Pitcher

In his final year, Sanabria has led from the front by putting together a stellar closing career and has been awarded by earning All-ECC First Team honors. Last year he earned All-ECC Second Team honors.
On the year he made 12 appearances while earning 11 starts with a record of 4-4, two complete game victories, and one shutout.
In 70.0 innings pitched the senior has allowed 61 hits, 26 earned runs, 29 walks, and has struck out 62 batters on the year. Sanabria has been named to the ECC Weekly Report Sheet twice this year.
On the year Sanabria made 11 starts pitching at least 5.0 innings of work and recorded five strikeouts or more on eight separate occasions with a career-best 13 punchouts against Franklin Pierce on Mar. 1.
Second Team Honor
Marc Cisco | Long Island City, N.Y. | Junior | Second Baseman

For the third time in his career, Cisco has earned All-ECC honors by putting together another stellar year.
Despite missing three weeks due to injury, the Long Island City native would finish the final five weeks of the season on a strong note as he batted .352 with an OPS % of .912, SLG % of .454 notching 38 hits, eight doubles, one home run, 18 RBI, 15 walks, eight stolen bases and 29 runs scored. Cisco has recorded nine
(5 (2), 3 (3), 1 (4)) multi-hit games to go with three
(2 (2), 1 (3)) multi-RBI games on the year. The junior earned multiple honors on the ECC Baseball Weekly Report Sheet.
In ECC play Cisco finished second on the team with a blistering batting average of .424, OPS % of .1080, SLG % of .559 recording 25 hits, five doubles, one home run, seven walks, 12 RBI, and 18 runs scored.
Francis Segarra | Bronxville, N.Y. | Senior | Shortstop

After a mid-year injury saw Segarra's 2023 season come to a close, the Bronxville native would make up for lost time as he earned All-ECC Second Honors in 2024.
In 44 games played and started, Segarra batted .286, with an OPS % of .702, SLG % of .351, and OB % of .351 recording 48 hits, five doubles, two home runs, 17 walks, 28 runs scored, and 33 RBI.
On the year Segarra recorded 16
(12 (2), 3 (3), 1 (4)) multi-hit games to go with five
(2 (2), 1 (3), 1 (4), 1(5)) multi-RBI games on the year.
Joey Patane | Commack, N.Y. | Sophomore | Designated Hitter

The Commack native has made his second year in Flushing one to remember with a spectacular year with starts coming at left field and as the team's main designated hitter in the middle of the lineup.
On the year Patane notched a batting average of .326, OPS % of .906, SLG % .486 with 45 hits, seven doubles, three triples, three home runs, 26 RBI, 18 walks, and 28 runs scored. The sophomore also recorded 13
(9 (2), 3 (3), 1 (4)) multi-hit games and six
(4 (2), 2 (4) multi-RBI games on the year.
On Monday (Apr. 15) Patane was named ECC Co-Player of the Week, his first top honors of the year.
Caleb Cassie | Vancouver, B.C. | Junior | Starting Pitcher

In his first year in Flushing Cassie put together a solid year making 11 appearances, earning 10 starts with 55.0 innings pitched, allowing 68 hits, 34 earned runs, 24 walks, and has struck out 62 batters on the year.
In ECC play Cassie made six starts while recording a 2-1 record in 43.2 innings pitched, allowing 43 hits, 15 earned runs, 12 walks, and struck out 38 batters for an ERA of 3.68.
He would tally a career-best eight innings pitched allowing five hits, three earned runs, one walk, and a career-best 10 strikeouts before the Knights earned a walkoff victory in the 11
th innings over St. Thomas Aquinas College on Apr. 19.
Cassie has been named to the ECC Weekly Report Sheet twice this year.
Danny Gargano | Middle Island, N.Y. | Senior | Relief Pitcher

For the second time in his career, Gargano has found a spot on the All-ECC Second Team. In another outstanding relief pitching outing for the Knights, the Middle Island native posted a 2-0 record with eight saves in 21.2 innings pitched, allowing 18 hits, seven earned runs, 10 walks, and struck out 29 batters with a team-low ERA of 2.91.
In 15 appearances on the year, Gargano allowed a run to cross in just five appearances while striking out three or more batters on five separate occasions.

The East Coast Conference Baseball Double Elimination Tournament gets underway Thursday (May 9) afternoon in Uniondale as the #3 seed Knights match up against #2 seed Molloy University Lions at Mitchel Field. First pitch is set for noon.
