Men's Tennis Rikkonen Named ECC Player of the Year, Four Knights Earn All-Conference Selections

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Thursday (Apr. 25) afternoon the East Coast Conference office announced the 2024 Men's Tennis All-Conference honors and four Queens College men's tennis student-athletes were honored for their performances during the regular season.
 
Leading the charge was senior Roni Rikkonen (Tampere, Finland) who lived up to the billing of Preseason Player of the Year as he was Player of the Year and earned an All-Conference selection spot.
 
While the trio of junior Cameron Henricy (Las Palmas, Spain), freshman Tim Andersson (Linkoping, Sweden), and sophomore Lucas Foix Sotos (Javea, Spain) earned All-Conference honors as Queens College saw a team-high four student-athletes honored.
 

ECC Player of the Year – Roni Rikkonen | Tampere, Finland | Senior

Following an excellent fall season where he began the first Knight to win the ITA East Region Singles Championship crow, the Finland native becomes the third straight Knight to earn top ECC men's tennis honors as he was named Player of the Year.
 
Playing at the #1 spot in singles, Rikkonen went undefeated with a 5-0 record in ECC play as Queens clinched the #1 seed and Regular Season Championship to the ECC men's tennis tournament. On the year, Rikkonen went 17-9 in singles play which included an 8-3 record in tournament play. While in doubles play, he was 3-3 in ECC play.
 
During the regular season, Rikkonen would earn two ECC Player of the Week honors.

ECC All-Conference - Cameron Henricy | Las Palmas, Spain | Junior

4.25 MTEN Henricy All-ECC
A key figure in the Knights lineup, Henricy went 4-0 in ECC play, while finishing with an overall record of 15-6 as he played in three different spots during the year from #1 to #3 in singles play.
 
In doubles play, the junior went 9-9 including a 2-2 record in ECC play.
 
During the regular season, Henricy was named ECC Player of the Week on April 15.

ECC All-Conference – Tim Andersson | Linkoping, Sweden | Freshman

4.25 MTEN Andersson All-ECC
It would be an excellent first year for the freshman from Sweden who went 13-9 overall in singles and 12-8 overall in doubles action.
 
In ECC play, Andersson went 4-0 playing singles action from #1 to #3 including a 6-3 record at #3 singles. While in doubles play, the rookie went 12-8 overall including a 4-2 record in conference play.
 
During the regular season, Andersson earned Rookie of the Week on three separate occasions.

ECC All-Conference – Lucas Foix Sotos | Javea, Spain | Sophomore

4.25 MTEN Sotos All-ECC
In his first year as a Knight Foix Sotos established himself as a key figure in the middle of the lineup playing #3 to #5 singles as he finished the year with an impressive record of 15-5 including a 4-1 record in conference play.
 
The sophomore went a combined 10-2 in singles play at #4 and #5 singles and when promoted to #3 singles, he would finish with a record of 3-1.

Next Serve

The Knights now set their sights on earning a second consecutive ECC Title with the postseason tournament set to begin Friday (Apr. 26) morning beginning with a matchup against the Wildcats of Daemen University. First serve is set for 8:45 a.m.
