FLUSHING, N.Y. – The NCAA officially announced the final seeding for the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship on Wednesday, as the No. 27-ranked Queens College men's tennis team learned its First Round matchup in Arizona.
The Knights earned the No. 11 overall seed and enter the championship as the highest-seeded team from the East Region. The No. 11 seed marks the highest NCAA Championship seeding in program history.
Queens will face No. 6 seed and No. 4-ranked Flagler College in the opening round.
"This season has been really special, and not just because of the results, but because of the group." said head coach Somadi Druker. "From day one, this team committed to something bigger than themselves. The way they've worked, supported one another, and stayed united throughout the year is what I'm most proud of."
"It's been a historic season for our program, and that's a direct reflection of their consistency, belief, and the standard they bring every day," Druker continued. "Winning the regional and reaching the Finals for the third year in a row speaks to the character of this team. I'm very grateful to our captains and our assistant coaches for the leadership they've shown. They've helped create an environment where everyone feels accountable and connected, and that's made a real difference."
Queens enters the national championship with a program-record 22-2 overall mark and will make the program's ninth appearance in the NCAA Championship Final Rounds, including its third straight trip to the national stage.
The NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championship Finals will take place May 20-24 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona.
The Knights are scheduled to take on Flagler on Wednesday, May 20 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
"As a coach, I feel fortunate to be part of this group," concluded Druker. "I'm proud of the way they represent Queens College on and off the court. We're thankful for what we've accomplished, but we know there's more ahead, and we're ready to embrace the next challenge as we head to Arizona."
