Matching up against the Spartans for the first time since the 2002 season, the first set saw a total of five ties and one lead change.

The Spartans began the set with a 3-0 lead before Queens tied the first set at 3-3. With the set tied at 7-7, senior Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, FL) would start a 5-1 run as the Knights took a 12-8 lead.

STAC would keep the first set within two points but with the Knights leading 16-14, a 3-0 run would see the Knights take a 19-14 advantage.

But the home side would battle back with a 4-0 run as they cut the Knights advantage down to one, 19-18.

Looking to stay ahead, a kill by Osterhoudt would start a 3-0 run as Queens took a 22-18 advantage.

However, the home side would battle back to cut the advantage down to 22-21 before both sides traded points but a Spartans service error would give the Knights a 1-0 match lead with a 25-23 first set victory.

Osterhoudt began the second set with a kill and the Knights would remain ahead despite the Spartans tying the set on two separate occasions.

With the Knights leading 11-10, Osterhoudt and sophomore Kendall Conrad (Carolltown, PA) combined for two kills before a service ace from sophomore Sarah Munn (Torrance, CA) gave the Knights a 14-10 advantage.

But the Spartans would once again rally with a 4-1 run as they cut the Knights advantage down to 15-14.

A kill from Conrad would start a 10-2 run as the Knights took a commanding lead of 2-0 with a 25-16 second set victory.

Queens would tally 12 kills as they hit .333 with Franco leading the charge with four kills and the duo of Osterhoudt and Conrad recording three kills each.

Franco and Osterhoudt began the third set with back-to-back kills as the Knights opened with a 4-1 run.

As the Spartans cut the Knights advantage down to 8-6, a 5-0 run would see Queens take command of the third set with a 13-6 advantage.

A 2-0 run by the Spartans would see the home side cut the score down to 13-8 before Franco, sophomore Elena Leung (Bellerose, N.Y.), and Osterhoudt combined for a 4-0 run to put the Knights up 17-8, a lead they would not surrender to earn a 25-17 third set victory and complete the 3-0 sweep Wednesday evening for their second ECC victory of the year.
