FLUSHING, N.Y. – Continuing East Coast Conference (ECC) play, the Queens College women's volleyball team welcomed the Molloy University Lions to Fitzgerald Gymnasium Sunday afternoon to conclude the home portion of its 2026 regular season.
Rookie
Lucia Bennett recorded a team-high 12 kills to lead the Knights' offense, but Queens fell in three sets as the Lions completed the season series sweep.
Match Recap
Molloy opened the first set with a 5-0 lead before a kill from Bennett sparked a 4-0 Queens run, bringing the Knights within one at 5-4. However, the Lions responded with a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 12-4. Molloy maintained its advantage the rest of the way, taking the opening set, 25-15, to go up 1-0.
In the second set, the Knights used timely kills to stay within striking distance, cutting the deficit to 15-9. However, a 4-0 Molloy run extended the visitors' lead to 19-9. Queens attempted to rally, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the Lions secured a 25-14 second-set victory to take a 2-0 lead.
A slow start to the third set saw the Knights trail 17-5 before Queens put together a 7-1 run to cut the deficit to six at 18-12. Bennett and fellow rookie
Kaiya Banks combined for three kills during the run, while junior
Olivia Hyman added two service aces.
A double block from rookies
Mikayla Haskell and
