Cross Country Opens Season at Adelphi Panthers XC Invitational

BETHPAGE, N.Y. – The 2023 Queens College men's and women's cross country season got underway Friday (Sept. 1) afternoon as the Knights competed in the Adelphi University Panthers Cross Country Invitational at Bethpage State Polo Park.

The Women's placed sixth in the 5K race, while the men's side placed 10th in the 8K race. 

Women's 5K Highlights
  1. Sophomore Rachel Mow (Esopus, N.Y.) paced the Knights finishing first with a career-best time of 20:25.70 to place 12th
  2. Sophomore Joy Leong (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned a 37th place finish with a time of 24:09.90
  3. Senior Natalia Cuttler (Islip, N.Y.) rounded the course in 24:45.00 to place 40th
  4. Making her debut sophomore Madelyn McMath (Carmel, N.Y.) would be the final Knight to place in the Top 50 as completed the course in 25:38.30.

Men's 8K Highlights
On the men's side, fresh faces would make their collegiate debut on the 8K course. 
  1. Freshman Daniel DeGregori (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the pack as the East Meadow native placed 37th with a time of 28:41.80 in his first ever meet.
  2. Junior Abdi Mohamed (Fargo, ND) making his debut finished 48th with a time of 29:50.60. 
  3. While three Knights in junior Peter Hoffmann (Astoria, N.Y.), senior Anthony Lopez (Ridgefield, N.J.), and junior Kyle Daniels (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) all rounded the course in the 33rd minute.
UP NEXT: Head Coach Greg Welch and the Knights will now use the week to prepare the LIU Fall Festival set to place on the campus of Long Island University Sharks in Brookville, N.Y. on Saturday (Sept. 9) morning.
