Game Day Preview: Women's Basketball Opens Two-Game Road Stand

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team opens a two-game road stand as the Knights travel to Rockville Centre, N.Y. on Saturday (Feb. 4) afternoon against the Lions of Molloy University in East Coast Conference play.

Series Notes:
  • It will be the second meeting of the season and 47th overall meeting against the Lions with the Knights trailing the series 22-24. 
  • Queens is looking for their first series sweep since the 2018-19 season after earning a 54-46 victory at home back on Jan. 4. 
Scouting the Knights
  • Queens enters their lone game of the week with an overall record of 6-14 and 4-6 in conference play. 
    • The Knights are coming off a 1-1 weekend having defeated D'Youville in overtime before falling to Daemen
    • Queens is sixth in the conference standings as they take a 4-6 record into their game against Molloy
  • In 20 games, Queens is averaging 58.1 points per game on 38.3% shooting, 37.1 rebounds, and 12.3 assists per game. 
  • Sophomore Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 12.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. 
    • Reeves matched a career-high 33 points in the victory over Roberts Wesleyan in conference play on Dec. 9.
    • She has tallied three double-doubles on the season.
    • The sophomore has earned ECC Women's Player of the Week honors on two occasions (Jan. 17 (Link) |  Dec. 12 (Link) )and a Honor Roll spot on Dec. 19 (Link).
    • Reeves has earned two Honorable mentions from the MBWA this season on Dec. 13 (Link), Dec. 20 (Link), and Jan. 17 (Link).
  • While junior Khadija Demry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 9.2 points per game.
    • Demry matched a career-high 24 points against Stonehill (Dec. 29) and team-high 14 points in the victory over Molloy. On Saturday (Jan. 7), the guard added 15 points against Franklin Pierce.
    • On Tuesday (Jan. 3), Demry was awarded ECC Player of the week honors. (Link)
Scouting the Lions
  • Molloy enters the week with an overall record of 3-17 and 2-9 in ECC play.
    • The Lions are on a nine-game losing streak.
    • With a 2-9 ECC record, Molloy sits 9th in the standings.
  • In 20 games, the Lions are averaging 47.8 points on 29.3% shooting, 40.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game.
  • Trinity Hudson leads the offense averaging 9.8 points per game. 
    • Hudson matched a season-high 22 points on Jan. 8 against American International College.
  • Gianni Domond is averaging 9.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game on the season. 
    • Domond tallied a season-high 17 points on Dec. 17 against Roberts Wesleyan.  
Next Jump Ball
  • Head coach Bet Naumovski and the Knights travel to Staten Island, N.Y. as they conclude the season series against the Dolphins of College of Staten Island on Wednesday (Feb. 8) evening. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
