M/W Cross Country Programs Compete in Queensborough XC Invitational Sunday Morning

BRONX, N.Y. – As the sun shined for the first time in nearly a week, the Queens College men's and women's cross country team returned to the course to compete in the Queensborough Cross Country Invitational hosted at Van Cortland Park Bayside Sunday morning. 
 
Competing under sunny and warm conditions, the women's side placed third out of 16 teams in the 5K race, while the men's side placed fourth out of 20 teams in the 8K race. 
 
Women's 5K Highlights
  1. Sophomore Rachel Mow (Esopus, N.Y.) paced the Knights finishing first with a time of 21:59.3 to place sixth. 
  2. While senior Natalia Cuttler (Islip, N.Y.) earned a 15th-place finish rounding the course in 24:17.4. 
  3. Sophomore Joy Leong (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed 21st with a time of 25:21.6
  4. Sophomore Madelyn McMath (Carmel, N.Y.) earned a career-best time of 26:36.3 as she placed 30th in the race, while junior Nicole Colombi (Wantagh, N.Y.) completed the course in 26:56.8 to earn a 34th place finish. 
  5. Ashley Rodriguez Perez (Emlhurst, N.Y.) rounded the course in 28:21.0 for a 52nd-place finish, while rookie Andrea Rivera (Queens, N.Y.) recorded a new career-high with a time of 29:15.6 in the meet.

Men's 8K Highlights
  1. Freshman Daniel DeGregori (East Meadow, N.Y.) continues to pace the Knights as he placed 11th with a time of 30:22.2
  2. Junior Abdi Mohamed (Fargo, ND) rounded the course in 31:30.5 to place 18th in the meet. 
  3. While the junior duo of Peter Hoffmann (Astoria, N.Y.) Kyle Daniels (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) completed the course together with a 10 second difference as Hoffman recorded a time of 34:10.7 and Daniel with a time of 34:20.4 as they placed 37th and 38th respectively. 
  4.  Senior Anthony Lopez (Ridgefield, N.J.) and Paulo Criollo (Ambato, Ecuador) were the next duo to finish together as Lopez rounded in the course in 34:48.9 and Criollo with a time of 34:50.7 for a 42nd and 43rdplacing. 

UP NEXT: Head Coach Greg Welch and the Knights will now use the week to prepare for the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge to take place on Saturday (Oct. 7) morning at Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey. The first race is set for 11:00 a.m.
