Men’s Soccer opens East Coast Conference play against D’Youville in Buffalo

FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Saturday (Sept. 10) afternoon, the Queens College men's soccer team will open East Coast Conference play on the road as they match up against the Saints of D'Youville University at Dobson Field. 
 
Game Time: 2:30 P.M.
 
Series History
  • Record: 1-0
  • Last Matchup: October 30, 2021 (W 1-0) Current Streak: W1
  • It will be the second meeting against the Saints in program history.
  • The Knights won the first meeting 1-0 against the Saints in Central Islip.

Queens College
  • The Knights are 3-2 on the season.  
  • Sophomore Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Sevilla, Spain) leads the offense with a team-high seven points, three goals, and one assist. 
  • Paquet has scored two game-winners in the Knights' two wins. 
  • In the Wednesday (Sept. 7) win 4-1 victory over Jefferson, Queens was led by Paquet, senior Thomas Esperoe (Bomlo, Norway), junior Leo Pinto (Forest Hills, N.Y.), and freshman David Oprea (Oslo, Norway).
  • In goal, goalie Dario Giovanni Cruz(Guadalajara, México) moved to third on the All-Time Career Wins list with the 11th victory of his career in the 4-1 victory over the Rams.
  • On Tuesday (Sept. 6), the East Coast Conference awarded Paquet a spot on the Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll sheet for the second week in a row. (Link)
  • The Knights have been slotted to finish sixth in the ECC Coaches Preseason Poll. 
D'Youville University
  • The Saints are 1-3 on the season with the lone coming against Pitt-Johnstown. 
  • Felipe Santos leads the offense with six points and three goals on the season.
  • Arthur Da Silva has tallied two assists on the season. 
  • The Saints have been picked to finish ninth in the ECC Preseason Coaches poll, but they are not eligible for postseason play this year. 
UP NEXT: The Knights stay on the road as they return to non-conference action on Wednesday (Sept. 14) evening as they match up against the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
