DEWITT, N.Y. – On Friday evening, the Queens College men's tennis team opened the month of April in a non-conference regional matchup against the Dolphins of Le Moyne College at Elevate Fitness in a battle of nationally-ranked opponents.
But the #46 Knights would fall 4-0 to the #45 Dolphins as they opened a two-game road trip in Upstate New York.
Doubles Competition
The Dolphins swept doubles competitions as they took all three doubles matches against the Knights to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
The 2 doubles duo of junior
Kareem Rashad (Alexandria, Egypt) / junior
Lucas Demuth (Buenos Aires, Argentina) would fall first to the score of 6-2 as they fell to Manuel Righi/Peter Hatton.
The Dolphins clinched the doubles as the #3 doubles pair of junior
Mariano Bibiloni (La Plata, Argentina ) / sophomore
Tim Ostheimer (Frankfurt, Germany) were defeated in a closely contested match to the score of 6-4 to Jared Howard/James Howard.
It would be another hard-fought defeat at #1 doubles as the duo of sophomore
Omar El Shehawey (Cairo, Egypt) /senior
Moritz Borges (Hunxe, Germany) fell 7-5 against Tom Jarry/Ethan Miller.
Singles Competition
But the Knights were unable to make a comeback in singles as they fell at singles courts one, two, and four, while the other singles matches went unfinished.
Shehawey fell to Hattan at #4 singles to the score of 6-4, 6-2 before Bibiloni was unable to force a third set tiebreaker dropping his #2 singles against Righi to the score of 6-1, 6-4.
The Dolphins clinched the match against Rashad at #1 singles as the junior fell in a tough two-set loss to the score of 6-4, 7-5.
Demuth's match at #3 singles went unfinished as the junior dropped the first set to the score of 7-6, but was up 5-4 in the second set.
While at #5 singles Borges was up 2-1 in the first set and freshman
Philipp Uhde (Heidelberg, Germany) was 1-0 in the first set.

Somadi Druker and the Knights return to East Coast Conference play as they match up against Daemen University Wildcats Saturday (Apr. 2) evening. First serve set for 7:00 p.m.
