MOUNT BERRY, GA. – After advancing to the ITA East Regional Doubles Tournament final, the Queens College men's tennis doubles duo of graduate student
Moritz Borges (Hunxe, Germany) / junior
Roni Rikkonen (Tampere, Finland) earned an At-Large bid to compete for a national championship crown in the 2022 ITA Cup hosted by Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia.
The duo of Borges/Rikkonen seeded #9 matched up against the University of Charleston duo of Jowan Rawson/Lennert Stevens in the Round of 16.
The Knights took the first set with a hard-fought 7-5 victory before the Charleston duo tied the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set. But Borges/Rikkonen would emerge victorious with a 12-10 third-set victory.
After advancing to the quarterfinals, the Queens duo matched up against the nationally ranked #4 duo of Columbus State University Pietro Martinetti/Tommaso Schold. But a chance at a national championship would come to end the quarterfinals as the Knights duo fell 6-1, 6-3.
The tournament would conclude in the North draw as they fell to Cameron University duo of Tomas Almeida/Thomas Cardona to the score of 7-6
(7-3), 6-3.

Somadi Druker and her Knights will conclude the fall semester with a non-conference matchup on Sunday (Oct. 23) morning against Saint Michael's College in Flushing. The first serve is set for 10:30 A.M.
